Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Colorbond Dune and Monument together? 6May 29, 2011 8:07 am East_Melb_Build Any reason you chose pressed brick over wire cut? East_Melb_Build Oh!!! Thanks so much - I really appreciate it We're planning: Austral Red Pressed Bricks (think traditional red brick colour) Bristile Newcastle Concrete Tiles/Heritage Profile (can't find any examples of this on an actual house - so if anyone can help there, too, I'd be ever so appreciative!) Colorbond Monument Gutter Colorbond Dune fascia Colorbond Dune half strength paint on gable face Colorbond Dune full strength on gable timber features / timber window frames / rendered front piers Any thoughts or constructive opinions welcome Re: Colorbond Dune and Monument together? 7May 29, 2011 8:42 am Will try that - thanks mimi23 abraham - went with these as there's no equivalent colour elsewhere (that I am aware of) - well not unless I go a different supplier and pay almost twice as much as my builder does not have a contract with them! That and since we're going with a traditional design I wanted that particular shade of red. Although now I am looking at it it doesn't say it's a pressed brick. It's Austral "Nubrick Classic 230 Red" so perhaps it IS wirecut? Picture of the brick looks pressed, though? The nubrik classic 230series are pressed bricks, we are building with Simonds and they are in cat4, so had to pay 3200/- extra, think it's worth it. We have opted for pressed mid grey and incase if that is not available 2nd choice is pressed manganese Our roof and gutter is monument and fascia - woodland grey Re: Colorbond Dune and Monument together? 9May 29, 2011 11:29 am Oh - would love to see a photo Thanks for the information about the bricks. I'm yet to see the next pricing sheet, so not sure how much extra we've had to pay for ours. I hope it's not $3200 As you said - worth it, though From memory the builder said for ours we could have all but the most expensive bricks (those gorgeous glazed ones) for about $1500 for the whole house. That said, our house is pretty small compared to many here - hence the difference in price I suspect! Re: Colorbond Dune and Monument together? 10May 29, 2011 7:20 pm BTW - thanks Ken007 for a link to your pics. Appreciated hparis - would still LOVE to see yours, too Re: Colorbond Dune and Monument together? 11May 29, 2011 9:44 pm East_Melb_Build BTW - thanks Ken007 for a link to your pics. Appreciated hparis - would still LOVE to see yours, too Hi East Melb Build, It was raining today but I found some pics from various times during the construction in different light environments for you to have a look at - http://i1237.photobucket.com/albums/ff4 ... G_0038.jpg http://i1237.photobucket.com/albums/ff4 ... 112429.jpg http://i1237.photobucket.com/albums/ff4 ... 111983.jpg http://i1237.photobucket.com/albums/ff4 ... 111886.jpg http://i1237.photobucket.com/albums/ff4 ... 111884.jpg http://i1237.photobucket.com/albums/ff4 ... 101470.jpg FYI - our colours were Roof - Colorbond Monument Gutter - Colorbond Monument Fascia - Colorbond Dune Downpipes - Colorbond Dune Garage Door - Colorbond Dune Windows - Colorbond Woodland Grey Main Render - Taubmans Roman Stone Feature Render - Taubmans Merlot Hope this helps. Helena Re: Colorbond Dune and Monument together? 12May 30, 2011 7:48 am I'm not afan of different colour fascia to the gutters. (Mine are both Monument. If it helps, my garage door and steelwork are Dune.) Demolition August 2009, Construction Started September 2009, Completed December 2010 Colorbond Dune and Monument together? 13May 30, 2011 8:58 am We chose the dune fascia as we thought having it all monument being a dark colour would visually lower the roofline whereas now having the fascia match the house it appears higher Re: Colorbond Dune and Monument together? 14May 30, 2011 9:01 am hparis We chose the dune fascia as we thought having it all monument being a dark colour would visually lower the roofline whereas now having the fascia match the house it appears higher I agree with you, having everything the same colour looks a bit odd and I wouldn't definitely want a cream coloured fascia either Re: Colorbond Dune and Monument together? 15May 30, 2011 10:31 am hparis - Many thanks. Like Ken's your photos have really confirmed in my mind that we've made the right choice. Cheers BTW I really like your house colours overall. The purple would not suit our very traditional design - but looks smashing with the colours and design you've selected Casa2 - I don't have firm opinions either way, although I think hparis' point about making the roofline look higher is a good one. For us a different colour is imperative, though, as it will be seen on the front of the gable and needs to tie in the decorative wood trim which will decorate the front of the gable. Re: Colorbond Dune and Monument together? 16May 30, 2011 2:54 pm Hi East_Melb_Build. You may be interested in a photo of my facade because my selections include Bristle ‘Heritage Newcastle’ roof tiles and Colorbond ‘Monument’ guttering and fascia with Colorbond ‘Dune’ downpipes. My other selections include Colorbond ‘Jasper’ windows, Solver ‘Beaver’ render, Hume ‘Newington XN16’ entry door in Solver ‘Monument’ which isn’t visible in the photo, ‘Caoba’ garage panel doors, ISI 025 Ezi Fit stacked stone to piers and exposed aggregate driveway in ‘Salt & Pepper’ mix with 8% charcoal oxide. I had to change my colour selections half way through construction but I think somehow it has all come together quite well (bad brickwork resulted in upgrade to full render and many colour changes). My two cents- I generally don’t like different coloured gutters/fascia but it looks nice on some homes. We have just chosen monument gutters/fascia/downpipes and dune garage and cladding, would loev to see yours all together Thanks Hi all, Our boundary perimeter fences need replacing (3 sides). From everyone's experience, what would you install? Timber lapped and capped OR colorbond? Thank you. 0 3315 Your house roof does not show rusting other than some surface rust on the flashings. In my opinion you dont need to replace or paint the roof other than treat surface rust… 1 10687 You should pressure clean your roof first and make sure the paint you buy also is anti mould. 4 21162 |
