Re: 1 of 3 toilets doesnt trigger water tank pump to fill cisten 7Feb 11, 2010 3:51 pm vvs mand If you shut the isolating valve at the wall and then disconnect the flexi connector from the cistern, get a bucket and then open the isolating valve, I bet water will flow out and the pump will activate. If I do this and all is ok, is there anything else I can do myself? Re: 1 of 3 toilets doesnt trigger water tank pump to fill cisten 10Feb 11, 2010 4:05 pm ok if you have the lid off, you see theres an isolating valve there. check that its turned fully on. the first thing id do would be disconnect the hose or pipe from the inlet valve and see if theres water coming out. if there is....theres your problem...the inlet valve. but it might be best if you dont do that...they can be difficult to reconect and you might be voiding your plumber's work. just gently move the float on the inlet valve and see if its stuck. im almost sure the problem is with your inlet vale. its more than likely a geribit . sometimes plumbers dont fit them correctly and they jam really easy. theres not much room in a back inlet valved wc Re: 1 of 3 toilets doesnt trigger water tank pump to fill cisten 11Feb 11, 2010 6:44 pm vvs mand if you have the lid off, you see theres an isolating valve there. check that its turned fully on. Pulled it off, valve fully on. Can see what you mean about the space, really not much room to get the flexi pipe onto the plastic body on the right next to the bottom of the yellow/blue flush triggers. Wasn't going to pull it off as would have done more damage but when I was checking the fittings etc, the big plastic body which the flexi pipe was connected to move like a mm. Then it triggered the water. Did 5-10 half and full flushes and it worked fine everytime. Good timing too, the rain will top up the tank from my testing Maybe the plastic body thing that detects the water level was up against the bottom of the flush trigger body and all it needed was a touch. Should take a photo cos I dont think I am making any sense. Either way, it now works fine. Thanks heaps! Owe you a beer or 3!
