Re: Fence Ettiquite 16Dec 07, 2012 1:51 pm I have had to put my fencing up without consulting neighbours, not my ideal choice but that was pretty much the only choice. we are a cnr block so we only have 2 neighbours to worry about. The land next to us at the time of getting quotes and installing fence was still for sale and owned by the developer. (now aparently sold)the land behind us we did make verbal contact however i lost there contact details incl address (due to packing) and i did not sent the notice to fence. Reason being that we could not wait as we have an outside dog which = fence up straigt away. We know that legally we can not ask for a contribution, but if they offer that would be even better Building The Harvard 271 With Dennis Family Homes My Blog http://www.ourhouseinwallan.blogspot.com My Thread viewtopic.php?f=31&t=51625&p=789135#p7891353 Re: Fence Ettiquite 17Dec 07, 2012 2:22 pm Hey so my block is elevated, so the people behind me don't technically share the fence. Am I just going to have to bear the full cost of the rear fence - therefore don't need to contact them? Or does it still count as sharing a fence? Actually here is a pic The highest part of that limestone retaining wall is about 1.5m. You can find more info here: http://www.fencingonline.com.au/dispute ... tralia.htm (first link is broken - the "Dividing Fences and other boundary issues" is the one with the useful summary here) On a slightly different note - is the retaining wall on the boundary between the two blocks - ie. was your lot "benched" by the developer? If so then you may be able to erect the fence effectively "on top" of the wall - it costs a bit more though as they need to use steel posts fixed to the wall to secure the fence to. Re: Fence Ettiquite 19Dec 13, 2012 12:41 pm Yes developer did the retaining walls - that would be awesome if I could put the fence on top of the wall, otherwise awful unreachable weeds would grow if I had to leave a gap. I've got fence vouchers from developer, have mailed them in, does anyone know what happens with the vouchers? Any ideas on a sound proof modular fence. Like… 0 7667 1 4699 4 11555 |
