It is actually really useful browsing through the recent posting history. Hopefully the other info was helpful, you don't mention if it was? have you mistaken me for someone else? my original post was my first time in this particular thread Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 2126May 27, 2012 7:31 pm Ricaaaa budgnbear Ricaaaa Hi Everyone 106 pages is a bit too much to go through Thanks As I said, it's only a few posts back, page 102 to be exact. I shall blame it on baby brain, being 6 months pregnant. Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 2127May 27, 2012 7:53 pm Quote: the shocking quality of the paintwork I have to agree with this statement. We have just sold a Mac Jones house, and the paint work was terrible. The people that had it built were not too concerned about it and so never followed it up. The problem we had was that when we tried to paint feature walls and you tried to mask it up, you would peel off all of the paint work. That is the problem with spray painting it. In our opinion we feel that our SS was related to BM as he was quick to defend the SS and disclose personal information about him to us in order to explain his behaviour toward us (he used our SS religion as to why he is so sensitive and got his feelings hurt about what I had written on here in regards to the building of our home) All totally ridiculous and highly inappropriate if you ask me but still we love our home!! It is a shame that we are still running into issues but hey i guess it is just the luck of the draw unfortunatley. As for the gallery, it really isnt a wasted space as it isnt a huge area. I will take some pics and post them on here tomorrow. Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 2130May 27, 2012 10:37 pm Hi everyone... like several others in here, my husband and I have been watching this forum for a while now and are finding everyone's comments very helpful - thank you.
We are in the planning stages for building with MJH this year. We have chosen a McDonald Jones - Bronte Executive in Elmslea Estate - Bungendore NSW (across the ACT border to the east of Canberra). As for price - started at $254k, add $15k for remote location, add $48k for fixed site costs, statutory reports and statutory requirements (including $15K for mandatory water tanks/BASIX). Our choice of variations including a $5k elec allowance, so far (before colour appt) = $60k. Consolidated Tender price = $378k. Main variations include, 2.7 ceilings, butlers pantry, island bench (instead of breakfast bar), bag and paint whole house, alfresco to back of house, coffered ceiling to Entry and Media room, upgrade to laundry to include built in cupboards and window... and several other lesser variations. We expect the colour studio visit will add another $20k approx (including flooring). Colour appointment and preliminary plans on 12 June in Sydney... very excited! Then... well we have been told our council, Palerang Council, will take 8 to 10 weeks to approve our plans... uurgh! We are looking forward to sharing our journey with others in this forum, enjoying your journeys and learning though the experiences of others. Obviously the ground conditions there are very poor and unable to hold anything up. You were very lucky the builder/Engineer didn't suggest you need timber piling... what a pity you cant get some refund from your land developer on the land price. I see you mention your land/soil classification is P.. I think this stands for problem or unknown possible problems, which I suppose can mean anything. Life is an enjoyment, enjoy it Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 2133May 28, 2012 11:10 am Sal190786 Hi Everyone, I have been looking at this forum for over a year now! My husband and i are very interested in building the Bronte on our block on the Mid North Coast. How much should i reasonably expect to pay over the base price of the house? Also, we are not looking to start building until early next year, and have not been to the bank yet about a loan - when would you suggest i contact McDonald Jones about starting the process? Thamks Hi, we are building the Bronte with the 3 car garage we went over the base price by $130k that is including a distance allowance of $13500 (we live just outside of ACT) all our colour upgrades, electrical and flooring. Hope that helps. They seemed to be on your block for a long time on the day of piering guess that explains it. At least you know the house isn't going to go any where! The slab looks good and looks like your windows have been delivered. Good to see some progress! We hope to have our bricks started this week they have been sitting there for 3 weeks.
