We were advised very late at the construction stage that our driveway will only be on the land that we own and anything after the boundary of our property is council owned. As the nature strip, kerb and gutter crossing is not part of our contract, we will need to contact council directly to discuss about this. Does this sound right? It's just that we opted in for the complete package, which include Driveway, hence our understanding is that the driveway should go all the way from our home to the road. Your feedback and experience is much appreciated. Thanks Re: Things you forget - summary page 11 & 15 375Oct 19, 2011 5:05 pm Drainage, if you have slope on the block, find out what ag pipes the builder includes. We had to put some in after we moved in, we had flooding in some areas. If there is a retaining wall, the builder will put some behind the wall, but you need them in other areas as well. Re: Things you forget - summary page 11 & 15 376Oct 19, 2011 5:34 pm Agree, builder is correct, anything after the boundry you have to arrange with the council. Some councils require you to pay a fee for a new driveway, I think it's somewhere around $200 ? Re: Things you forget - summary page 11 & 15 377Oct 20, 2011 6:12 am Thanks CC101 || springtime. Sorry we are quite new to this; so my next process would be to request a Driveway inspection from the council and get approval? Once we obtained the approval, we then contact any licensed builder to do the job (pour the concrete etc)? Would that be right? Thanks Re: Things you forget - summary page 11 & 15 378Oct 20, 2011 9:04 am we forgot to add frosted windows to the bathrooms and toilets and will promptly be installing blinds in the house before we move in with that frosted contact stuff to put on the windows. This was annoying because I just didn't think about it as the side windows look onto my neighbours and had to be opaque, so why didn't the bathroom and toilet windows have to be the same? The answer is they are not considered living areas. hubby, kids and me all waiting for the Amberlea Site Cut 27 September 2011 https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=46637 http://www.dscml.com/ Re: Things you forget - summary page 11 & 15 379Oct 20, 2011 3:31 pm Tempura, you need to contact your council , they are the ones that do the driveway from your boundry to the street . This is considred part of the footpath, therefore it is the council's responsibility to pour the concrete etc, but like I said, just call your council & they'll help you Things you forget - summary page 11 & 15 380Oct 20, 2011 8:41 pm springtime Tempura, you need to contact your council , they are the ones that do the driveway from your boundry to the street . They aren't going to build it nor are they going to pay for it. I don't expect to have to pay for my neighbours to have a driveway so cannot expect them to pay for my driveway. Depends what you're current inclusions are, but we're not including wardrobes and will just use second hand ones until we can save later on to get them built.
