Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Does anyone have experience building with Dixon Homes Ca 3Sep 07, 2010 11:05 am b0b555We built a house with them here on the Gold Coast about 8 years ago when they were trading as Tamawood. We are on our 4th build at the moment. Only that first house was built with them. I'll let you work out what that means. No way of knowing if the franchise you deal with now would be similar or not to the experience we had then. Thanks b0b555. I believe they have now become a franchisee of Dixon Homes (formerly named Carrington Homes). I guess I will need to go with my gut feel through the preliminary processes and then make a decision whether or not I want to go with them. Are you aware of any other builders that you would personally prefer to deal with ? One more thing, this is to do with house design: I have requested that the external wall be made of cement block on a concrete slab. Keep in mind that my block slopes from the front (higher) to the back (lower). I was thinking of goind for a concrete slab and due to the slope, I would have space under the slab at the rear of the house , for the garage. Suburbia is where the developer bulldozes out the trees, then names the streets after them. Building a house is a great experience, I know, as we started building our house in Melbourne around 14 months ago. We moved in last November. It feels really great watching your plans taking shape. Wish you all the best once again. I am also dealing with Dixon Homes Cairns and so far, so good. The sales person seems to be on the ball and very alert for alternative designs etc.. am pleased so far. He is not attempting to twist my thgouths onto something bigger and better like sales people ususally do. As I stated before, my block slopes from the front to the rear (rear lower). My wife and I have this idea of a beautiful home overlooking the block with coconut trees and other tropicals - Do you have a thread I can follow as well ? -Cheers Suburbia is where the developer bulldozes out the trees, then names the streets after them.
