Our pool journey begins - pool being filled before xmas

Our pool journey has started. So I thought I would start a thread on the start and finish of our pool build.

We are getting built a 8x4 inground concret pool, which due to the sloping site is also out of the ground at on edge by approx 1meter. We decided to skip the water feature on less thing to have to maintain.

Here is the landscape plans.

The backyard, we have approx 2.5m fall from the back of the house to the rear fence.

We got the appoval for the pool from the council a couple of months ago, but delayed the building of the pool until we moved in as we wanted to make sure we got it positioned right way to work with the house.

Wet weather for once has worked in our favour, recieved a phone call this afternoon asking if they could dig the pool tomorrow instead of the 2 Sept.

We have been moved forward due to the fact they can't dig the pools on they bayside (Brisbane) as it too wet but being in the western suburbs which is full of rock and clay they will have no prob.

We also have a sloping block and one corner was 1.2m above ground and the other corner about 40cm below the ground. We had to get a complying development as the height of 1.2m was too high for the council - they would have required us to go 1m below the ground which would have required more retaining at that end. Apart from the top 15cm we had solid sandstone so about $5k of rock excavation costs........

We put the excavated rock where it was 1.2m above ground effectively increasing the slope in that part of the garden - not sure about this at the design stage but looks good now finished. What are you going to do where you are 1m above ground?

They dug the whole yesterday, l luckly we didn't go over the excavation allowance, the only hit a little bit of sandstone I was concerned about hitting more solid rock as the did on the top of the block when they did the house excacation.

We didn't need to get any dirt carted away, a lot less came out than what we thought.

Awesome view to take photos from. Can't wait to see it all finished. The view overlooking should be wonderful. Which pool company are you using? PM if you prefer. The pool is the next thing on our list.

I too will be watching with interest. Our pool begins in about 10 days - very exciting. I dare say that my newly cleaned windows won't be clean for too long.

Photo have been taken from our top deck.

We are using Porpoise Pools, I can PM the details if you wish, we found you had to shop around as there was a big difference between the cheapest to the most expensive quote, we went for somewhere in between.

It has taken 3 days to form up the pool, fingers crossed they poor the concrete tomorrow.

The pool has been plumbed for heating, and we have put in a led light.
