Re: Marble Sealant question please 6Jun 02, 2010 3:53 am I'd agree with the responses you've had already. Since the stuff has been applied already live with it, and reapply that stuff when required. I'm not familiar with Tenax, but its probably ok. What I will add is that you must not expect any sealers to change the nature of marble. That is, it is ACID SENSITIVE. Sealers will work beneath the surface to prevent spills from absorbing into the marble, but the surface can still be etched by acids, leaving marks that are not easy to remove. For this reason, I don't think marble is a good choice for kitchens, as most drinks are acidic. So no matter what sealer you have, wipe up spills straightaway. Ash. Any source of ingnition should be considered +1 to using this with piolt lights off As for sealers that are xylene based, if they are penetrating STAY AWAY. These sealers are behind the times and most likley no good. The better manufacturers (like me ) use whats called IPA (isopropyl alcohol) as the solvent. While still flammable, like all solvents, much better than xylene based sealers.
