I don't know about the rain shower heads, it will be interesting what is said about them. You are obviously aware that everyone is going to mention forgoing a bath is not a great idea if you have kids, however, you don't say if this is your family bath or an ensuite etc... maybe it won't matter if there is another bathroom with a bath. Assuming you are happy to lose the bath, I think your plan is great. I can't see how moving anything there will make any real difference, obviously there are a few configurations, but they are all similar (unless someone can see something i can't!). I just wonder what the wall between the shower and loo is? Is that tiled? It might be a bit dark, perhaps just go with a glass (frameless) screen for a modern perspective. Look forward to seeing the final job! Annie A thankful person is a happy person. We ended up making the room 100mm smaller by increasing the depth of one wall, which then enabled us to have the bath (with shower over) flush we both walls. This saved us having to have the little tilled area at the end. If we were going to put in a tub in the new house, there's a fountain spout that I love - I think I'd run the bath though just to watch it hehe P.s. here's some pics of our old bathroom - you can do so much more when you've a separate toilet GRHHH! We're on a pretty tight budget though, and we plan to knock this house down eventually and re-build... plus, we don't have kids to worry about so we really can just make it a house for grown-ups. The wall between the shower/toilet is going to be tiled in the same feature tiles as the recesses in the shower. I'm trying to steer clear of the glass due to cost. We're going to have some waterproof LED lights in the feature wall (on the shower side) also (partner's a sparky, so we can go all out on the electrical One of the downsides I can see with the rain heads is that they aren't as water efficient... I like the look though, of having it coming down from the ceiling. I'll just have to wait and see if anyone has one at there home and what they think, I think Heya Macy, There will be a large mirrored shaving cabinet above the basin (for the standard toiletries and stuff). Other than that, there's the towel rack and some recesses in the shower. It's just 2 of us, so storage isn't to big of a deal; though I am wondering about where to keep the toilet paper - I don't want to have it just laying around on the floor. Re: Bathroom plans; what do you think? 7May 24, 2009 2:30 am I love the new bathroom plan. It's very modern and minimalist. You've bought everything at such a good price you can afford to splurge a little on the feature tiles. And for the toilet paper, get a steel roll-holder for next to the toilet. I got a set (holder + brush & holder) from the Reject Shop, and I intend getting extras for the new house. I think the set was around $20 or so. They say junk expands to fit space available. I remember someone saying something recently about rain heads being more damaging on the grout? Does anyone remember that? Were you also planning to have a handheld shower? Re: Bathroom plans; what do you think? 9May 24, 2009 9:48 am Love your plan! What a fantastic transformation it's going to be. I have no problem with not having a bath when space is tight. Some friends of ours did a bathroom reno and ditched the bath - they put in twin basins and a long vanity bench and a larger shower (they had three teenagers fighting over the single bathroom basin..... ) and I think it's great. It would probably put a few potential buyers off if they ever sell, but I'm sure there are plenty who'd not be bothered. I think that a spacious and well-appointed bathroom with no bath is more appealing than a cramped and unworkable one with a bath anyway. We have a ceiling-mounted rainhead shower - it has pros and cons. I love the look of it, and I love the soft fall of the water. I have no idea what the thing about the grout might be that Macy mentioned. The water has less pressure, so I can't see how it would damage the grout? Anyway, the only con I've found is that rinsing your hair is a drama. It takes forever to get the shampoo rinsed out - like about four times longer than with a standard shower. If I'd actually used one before we built, I still would have chosen it, because it's lovely. But I'd have added a hand-held shower as well, just for hair-washing. Re: Bathroom plans; what do you think? 10May 24, 2009 9:57 am Oh - toilet paper....I've seen a few houses where they have a wall-mounted fitting for a spare toilet roll, next to or above/below the normal loo roll holder. Then you could keep the main supply in the linen cupboard or wherever, as long as you make sure you always replace the spare. It's an upright fitting, to match the toilet roll holder, like this: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Bathroom plans; what do you think? 11May 24, 2009 12:10 pm Hey Judie, The glass is just to expensive... well frame less glass is, and that's what I'd want I'm happy with the wall though, as it cover's the shower from the window also, which although frosted, looks right onto our next-door neighbour's carport. I'm also going to have to make a trip to the reject shop hehe. Hi Macy, Our house is only 2-bedroom, so as part of our renovation we've basically turned one room into a walk in cupboard lol (there's a wardrobe running the full length, 4.5m, with a little bit of hanging space and then lots of shelves). The rule is no junk outside that room - I don't think it will take to long though for it to be packed to the roof hehe Hey Kek, I wondered about the pressure. There is another head that I didn't mind, which is 220x220mm (rather than the 200x200mm square one)... it is a cross design with less holes; I wonder if that would be better for pressure? We've certainly enough room for a hand-held though. Hmm might have to take a trip back to the shop and ask for a test I'm thinking also, about hanging a rod underneath the vanity bench for the toilet rolls - might be a bit tight though with the waste pipe. Even something similar to the wall mounted one you posted could be fixed underneath... killing to birds with one stone, as you can store extras on it and use one as well. I tried a few search terms, which led back to this thread , but I finally found the thread I remembered regarding the grout. It's the comment about monsoon showers. viewtopic.php?f=38&t=14706&hilit=shower+base Since I'd mentioned it I wanted to clarify. No. It's not original.
