I should have noted that the drop-down table is for family use not for entertaining - we have a separate dining room for seating guests. We'd normally only have 6 chairs around the table, on the outer side of the kitchen: i just drew in a couple more for in the event the kids a couple of friends around. But might need some rethinking. Yes, I'm worried about exactly that with smoking skillets - how well the room will cope with that ceiling rangehood. Would love to hear from anyone that has something similar. The kitchen faces out to an open plan family room, so love the idea of facing the family when cooking. While cooking is going on, everything else around it will be affected. Think about fish frying, steak... Cooking does not take that long but everything else before and after. - About the round table, I personally feel incomplete if I were to sit in one of the chair. It would be a bit weird if I sit opposite the joint because I would have to continuously look left or right to feel linked - The island should have some sort of overhang to protect the base cabinets just in case. My daughter and son in law are about to start building, they are having a 600mm induction cook top and 900mm oven. It's personal preferance 5 13035 You must be new to the internet.
