Concerned with rain hitting the brick wall and down the back of flashing. The adhesive over time will degrade allowing ingress of water. (They picked up other non-compliant flashing) Apparently it seems like a normal practice these days as I have seen some like that on rendered wall also and so I have been told also. You can check and use this as a minimum guide and look at the wakaflex install notes and it states it should be chased into the brickwork and/or over flashed. In my view it should be over flashed no matter what.
