Thanks We have had our grey glass installed and it looks great. It is dark on the outside trying to look in and the only noticable change on the inside is the colour and reduced outside glare. Re: Things you forget - summary page 32 1032Mar 18, 2018 12:43 pm Try and do as much future proofing for you house as possible - think about your laundry how many plug points, where the washing machine plumbing should go and the general layout, even if you can’t have the Landry if your dreams immediately if it’s on a to do list for later on it will help if you’ve thought about extra cabinets and placements etc. same with CCTV for your home, get the wiring installed even if you can’t afford the cameras for a while. Have made a list of things from this thread to check and I have 96 rows in my spreadsheet Re: Things you forget - summary page 32 1035Apr 19, 2018 8:10 am I thought this post from nomnomnom was really helpful. Linking it here because it's a great list of things to check at the construction plan signing stage: viewtopic.php?p=1773588#p1773588 Re: Things you forget - summary page 32 1036Apr 24, 2018 2:23 pm Look at recessing your stacker doors into the slab, so that there is no railing to step/trip over when doors to alfresco are open. We have been quoted only $220 to provide the slab rebate allowing for streamlined flooring in/out when stacker doors are open between dining and alfresco. Not a lot of money and no stubbing toes or tripping over! Re: Things you forget - summary page 32 1037May 11, 2018 1:13 pm _daz_ Agent_009 Great thread. Have made a list of things from this thread to check and I have 96 rows in my spreadsheet I've used this thread and tips from other threads. My spreadsheet has about 500 lines. Think I've got too many. Any chance you can email me that spreadsheet singhc1979@yahoo.com.au Re: Things you forget - summary page 32 1038May 14, 2018 12:50 pm dan1986 Hi all, Love this thread so many great ideas, you should also have a look at Build Companion https://www.buildcompanion.com.au they also have some great inclusion ideas. Needs way more detail on why with pictures and a lot more in-depth stuff than the super obvious in my opinion. Re: Things you forget - summary page 32 1040May 16, 2018 12:10 am Day 5 in new home. What to double check. During all meetings with the builder itemise all points you want to add and only discuss those. Hand over a copy and get them to initial your copy so when they do the variations you don't forget anytjing when checking. Tap and drain orientations for dishwasher, washer etc. Make sure all electrical connections have conduits in wall not just cut bricks. This a big one. Space between bottom of door and final floor covering. We decided to have vinyl planks and told them. They still left a door space of 25mm under each door space. Fridge area..... make sure you factor in the door opening. We are now stuck here after spending $3k on fridge and cam hardly open right door. Make sure you specify the quality of finish of doors (mdf doors are rough finish if that is what you want). This a big one .... check your roof space!!!. Ducting, wiring. Oh yes. Make sure down pipes are on the extremities of the gutters then add two more on each side of the home......ours overflow even on light shower...."they meet australian standards" is their reply. I won't go on...... oh of hot water system is on one side of the home where all the hot water needs are and your ensuite is on the opposite side .... consider an instantaneous to feed only that space (and bolt it down after handover ... amazing how they grow legs quickly.). Connect the toilet light to the fan. How many turn on the fan when taking a dump. Depends what you're current inclusions are, but we're not including wardrobes and will just use second hand ones until we can save later on to get them built. Also have a… 3 12430 No. It's not original. Circa early to mid 90s would be my guess and maybe even as late as early 2000s 1 7223 A question. Im in Queensland and building a new home. We managed to reach practical completion 6 weeks ago but we haven't heard any date for handover yet. Who should we… 0 6271 |
