Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry Re: Shower Step 22Mar 06, 2009 12:08 pm We asked our builder for a 'step' in the shower, have one in our current house and it's brilliant for shaving the legs and a spot for the shampoo and stuff ...
He told us they call it a plinth (ok, not sure about the spelling there). In our new house we're having a double shower, and the plynth will go the whole distance along the wall - 2 tiles high x 1 tile wide. Re: Shower Step 23Mar 06, 2009 1:06 pm I like the corner one too oz...but yeah, add in the cost of shipping also and it's alot for piece of metal....*sighs*
lol...yes, the difference in the weight of a soap bar and a human leg is quite substantial....that's my only concern with the soap tray option. Good luck netadelle...l hope your visit to Packers proves fruititous Ed- thanks for the handrail suggestion , hmmm might have to scout around for one, but one that doesn't really look like a handrail...l'm getting a mental picture of those big thick hospital type ones *shudders*, l want one a bit fancier than those Do you know how each of the options we've found would be installed? You are not nuts at all. Roberts Designs do a ceramic one that is very inobtrusive and easily fitted by your tiler. They are about $40 retail and should be available via most tile stores. They come in white and alabaster only though. Lucky you sunflower Will your step jut out from the wall or does it start from the base of the shower? I'm jealous l either way It'll start from the base of the shower, but just be 2 tiles high (so about 40cm). We're hoping that'll be a good height - high enough for the shaving thing, but low enough to not be in the way. Re: Shower Step 28Apr 03, 2009 11:01 pm ozkarnak Has anyone seen or heard of a shower step (shower foot rest ?)?. Not sure if I just imagined it or what and google wasn't much of a help. What it is is a little jutting out bit (similar to a soap dish) that's at the right height to put your toes on to wash / shave your legs. I saw it on TV where it was the part of a rail shower and just bent out at the bottom for your foot rest. Theres a crappy shaver / plastic / corner contraption on google but I'm thinking of something the size of a cigarette package (but stylish) that's attached permenantly to the wall. Bottom line - I have terrible balance and almost fall over washing my legs and feet each morning and after a run I'm too stiff and tired to bend over . Am I just completely nuts ?. NO, this is mine. Bought it at Beaumont Tiles, I think $28 or close too. The BEST thing in my bathroom!!!! I haven't been able to find a thing. The only metal ones I can get are bars that go across the corner, if I remember rightfully one was round and I think there was a square bar option too. They are made by Delway Brass and you should be able to buy them from any plumbing supplies store. Possumchops Now the proud owner of 3.7acres of Serenity. Colour selection completed! The sales lady told me it was installed after the tiles where put on. It is actually installed onto tiles in the picture, it just doesn't come out very well that they are tiles.
