Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Dec 31, 2017 5:59 pm I’m close to finalising my custom house plan but I’m having trouble with kitchen appliance locations! Hoping someone can help or has experience with some points I’m confused about.. I definitely want the island free from sink or cooktop as the kids sit up here and we do paperwork and I’m not the greatest house keeper so my best chance of having a tidy looking kitchen is the bench free of appliances etc. I was originally just going to put the cooktop and sink on back wall opposite island as it was plenty long enough at 4m but have since added a door to the left side for kids activity/study area..so now I have approx 2.8m and would rather separate sink and cooktop so there’s plenty of prep room on the sides. I’m not sure whether it’s best to have the cooktop OR sink on the back wall now. Cooktop would be handy as there will be overheads and can conceal the range hood, but it’s not used as much as the sink so seems weird to be opposite bench with the most side prep space. If we put the sink there I’m worried about the overheads being annoying above a sink. And then the cooktop will be where sink is currently shown on plans, with exposed range hood. Could probably fit an oven tower next to it at the end too. I was hoping to have a oven tower but as plan sits now I feel like everything would end up too squishy. As the house is so open plan I feel like proportion is important. So anyway, I’m very confused! Have considered moving fridge opposite WIP door and moving sink to the front position where fridge currently sits but again I’m worried that it would be squishy accessing a fridge down the end of that little nook. Or do I leave as is, whack 2x600 ovens side by side under cooktop and hope it all flows well? Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Any advice?? Ps we have removed the butlers sink too so please ignore. Will just be cabinetry. Oh and it’s actually a sliding door not windows to the left of kitchen. Re: Help with kitchen layout! 2Dec 31, 2017 7:24 pm Your fridge area as in plan is great, will work brilliantly, as most times fridge is accessed is from outside kitchen area, if someone is cooking, it's important others can get to the fridge without disruption to others cooking. I would leave sink near fridge area as cleaning up won't impede in cooking area, with your plan, you can access fridge easily plus you could still cook, and clean up at sink, all with out stepping on each other. I can see your kitchen working simular to else, which works really well. It will make it easy for us to be doing tasks and not be in each others way. And I prefer the fridge where it is too. My kids seem to live inside the actual thing haha. I think I’m overthinking it a bit! I just don’t want to get it wrong love your layout, those wall ovens look ace! You never have a fridge against wall as you’ve drawn. The doors can’t open past 90 degrees and it’s difficult and maybe impossible to remove drawers 2 17531 Hi, We're building a double-storey in Perth and I'm undecided with the kitchen sink situation. I'm set on having the main sink with dishwasher in the scullery - and… 0 21471 Possibly both depending on the sizing. Idea of working from the centre is that you dont have a 20mm thin tile at one end and a 400mm at the other end. A quick search on… 3 8751 |
