Hubby and I are researching our options between buying an old place for KDR in an established suburb vs building in a new estate. I'm wondering if anyone has done some salvaging and selling of things like kitchen, bathroom, floor boards etc...?? Can we do that ourselves to make back a little bit of money? Or is it better to find a demolition company who will do that and provide a nice cheap overall cost to us (does that even happen??)
Any advice appreciated. The price of land and the cost of building is looking like it will be very similar between the two options, so aside from the location question (and the fact that I don't really like the new estate feel but can be convinced) the cost of demolition and site prep is the main difference.
