I am close to being locked out. I have started getting my house ready to sell, packing, packing, packing and chucking heaps of stuff out! Hey Madora! I had PCI last Monday, I'm just waiting to fix a few things before final payment and then hopefully I can get keys soon. It's incredibly frustrating because I need to line up the tradies but I don't know when I'll get keys. At the same time I don't want to make the final payment until I know the issues identified at PCI are fixed! Two main ones are the gas company had to dig a trench to check the pipes and then the trench was just overfilled but I paid for the driveway to be compacted down with limestone road base. So I'm waiting for them to compact it down. 2nd issue is brickpaving outside the garage is not straight and has this weird lift edge thing near the fence so I'm waiting them to straighten it. Otherwise PCI went well, just minor paint issues. I highly recommend getting a building inspector. Mine found that the bottom of my bathroom doors were not sealed with paint and I would never have thought to look under it. I hear ya about packing. I donated 7 bags of clothes to the Salvos and whilst I was doing that I stupidly forgot to lock my car and some knob stole my 2 x iPods, sunglasses and coin box from the car. Lesson learned 🤦♀️ Hope your build is going well! I need to catch up on the forum this weekend. Been so busy doing overtime to pay for the house 😂😭😂 First Build HGWA 90Sep 29, 2017 8:57 pm jenza20 Madora Dreamer Hi Jenza, are you in yet? I am close to being locked out. I have had a building inspector at each stage so far and whilst the things he picked up were small, I would never have known. I have just had the first valuation on my current house and I'm feeling a little happier about selling it now, with a bit of luck I'll be able to buy everything I want before I move providing the house sells quickly I guess. What tradies do you need to line up, my house is turnkey ready so think all I'll need to do is outside gates and paving down the side of the house. @Madora Dreamer Re: First Build HGWA 91Oct 07, 2017 12:43 am Madora Dreamer jenza20 Madora Dreamer Hi Jenza, are you in yet? I’ve had the garden done too so hopefully it will sell quickly. @Madora Dreamer Re: First Build HGWA 94Oct 19, 2017 7:21 pm Congratulations! How exciting. My kitchen cabinets went in this week, weird they didn't paint the ceilings first though. Mine feels so close now @Madora Dreamer Re: First Build HGWA 95Oct 27, 2017 9:45 am So thoughts on building with HGWA. The building process was for the most of it great and the finishings internally were spot on. However if you do build with HGWA my only one gripe with them is paving. I suggest you delete paving and get your landscaper to do it! I was highly disappointed with their paving, however they came back with the old "within tolerance guidelines" shiz. I'm now getting my landscaper to lift up the paving and redo it. Of course I didn't budget for this but I rather get it right now then loathe the house because of uneven lines. Anyhoo it's still exciting about the new house but has tainted my building experience a little. How long does it take before you can put furniture on the tiles? Mine have been delayed so the house may be finished before they arrive so I was thinking of moving in then moving out whilst the tiles are laid. @Madora Dreamer Re: First Build HGWA 99Oct 28, 2017 7:41 pm Madora Dreamer Hi Jenza, have you moved in yet or waiting for the tradies to finish first? Mine have been delayed so the house may be finished before they arrive so I was thinking of moving in then moving out whilst the tiles are laid. I need to clean up the house this week and then I'll move next week So much dust and dirt! Not sure about tiles but you would think the next day would be ok?? Maybe just check with your builders! Don't want to void any warranties. Or are you doing the tiles separately from the builders? It's an exciting time for both of us. We did it! Re: First Build HGWA 100Nov 07, 2017 3:40 pm Congrats Jenza, that floor looks awesome! As far as I know the tiles need at least a day or two after going down and then probably another day minimum after they’ve been grouted (which is done separately). Depending on how long it all takes you possibly have minimum 4-5 days before tiling starting and being ready for use. First home builder - Brightwood Estate, Baldivis. Celebration Homes.
