The crappy workmanship and slack attitude have not affected me. I have observed it happening to someone else and this is what my perception of this company is. Thats how I took it aswell, all I was saying is that those that have bad experiences tend to be more vocal. Nothing to do with bias or anything like that. Re: Would you recommend JG KING? bit nervous! 8Feb 25, 2009 12:50 pm wonderland A friend of my friend works at JG King. We asked her whether they are good and she said that if she was building a house, she def wouldnt build with them! I would be more worry about this.... If even the staff have lost confidence in the company, what would you expect? Nothing to do with bias or anything like that. All I'm trying to say is you don't need to be vocal when they do the right thing. After all, you have paid them to do the right thing. If you buy a loaf of bread at the milk bar and have a smooth transaction and the bread was nice, do you tell anyone about it? Or if you buy a car and the car does what it should. If the car's a lemon then you tell the world. On the opposite side, if the car dealer throws in a few extras and does stuff that he doesn't have to, then you will tell people about the good service etc. However, if you pay for something and that is what you get, it is what you expect and nothing more nothing less. If the builder gives you better than expected service or quality then you would tell people about it, same as you would tell people about it if things were less than expected. I do not see the point of your argument about people being more vocal if they get shafted. Of course they are more vocal. There are probably heaps of satisfied customers as well, but they paid to be satisfied. The payment is reward enough for the builder for doing their job. Em JG King ~ my 2 cents 11Feb 28, 2009 8:47 pm I haven't personal experience with ******, but I've inspected many of their display homes, and they leave a hell of a lot to be desired. consistently I've noticed finish quality and detailing that's unusually poor, and considering the fact they are 'display homes', you could expect worse if you actually built with them. for example, in just one display I found crooked door handles, mishung doors, bubbling paint, rails and taps falling off the wall.
structurally, they may be the best as far as project builders, and they opt for higher quality fittings than many other project builders, such as steel where other companies use aluminium or timber. another thing that bothered me, that may not be of concern to all, is the substandard interior design and overall appearance. in a similar price bracket, you could find a M or H home with noticeably better design. when it boils down to it, the interiors don't matter so much as you can change the décor to your own taste and the display furnishings aren't included (or available), but you will probably want decent kitchen and bathrooms, which are lacking. Re: Would you recommend JG KING? bit nervous! 12Feb 28, 2009 11:05 pm I am building with them and so far all good.. sales consultant was excellent. Contract administrator was excellent. Replied to emails straight away. Site Supervisor is so far very good. Only brought up one issue with him so far which is to do with the slab in the garage. Due to the boxing it has made part of the garage floor (about 10cm wide) rough. He agreed with me it didn't look good and is going to get it inspected by the concreters.
Our house started 3 weeks ago and the roof has already started to go on. Plaster is due to go in in 10 days. Still early days and plenty of time for things to go wrong, but so far I have and will continue to recommend them to people who are looking to build. Anyway, my opinion with bad reviews on the internet is to take them with a grain of salt. Most people on here wouldn't have built a house if they took too much notice of the reviews. I'm sure Em read all the bad reviews about NBG on the net but still decided to build with them. Go and speak to people at the company or ask people questions who are building with them, I did the same and I recommend you do the same also. Which office did you go through and what stage are you up to now? With all the good intentions we were to build with them. We had requested changes to the plan, and they quoted us based on those changes. The quote has a line item 'Amend plan and increase floor area' and they have included the amount for the same that was agreed upon. When we did not hear from them 5 weeks after paying the deposit, we contacted them to find out that the senior staff feels that their building consultant has not 'quoted enough' based on the required changes. If we want to build with them, we will need to pay an additional 16500. Now it is not a question of if we can pay/ not pay this additional amount. The question is that once you have quoted based on the requested changes/ plan, accepted the deposit - should you after 6 weeks ask for more money because your staff made a mistake in estimating/ quoting - or stick to your quote? Well.. have asked for the deposit back today.. They have wasted our 2 months.. and the search for a 'good builder' begins once again Re: Would you recommend JG KING? bit nervous! 19Mar 10, 2009 9:29 am Wow, I cant believe YOU had to contact them to find this out.
