Has anyone had any experience with asking the sparky to pre wire for security cameras (not in tender)We are looking at purchasing a camera system seperatly and was wondering if anyone has had a chat to the sparky to arrange this and if they had any luck. Also does anyone have any advice on how long from once the bricks are completed to build completion? Has anyone tried to obtain quotes for landscaping or fencing and window shutters while the build is occuring? I discussed this with them before signing, along with my other data and a/v requirements. They allowed me to provide the cable and installation specifications and they did the work. At a cost of course, but meant I didn't have to attempt to do side line deals with the contractor, which I reckon many contractors wouldn't entertain it anyway because it wouldn't be worth loosing their contract for side deals. Re: Rawson Homes - General Thread 86Jan 18, 2017 3:44 pm sydneysider Thanks red! I am also looking at undermount sinks. It does have a very clean look when compared to overmount sinks. I personally prefer the 'rounded rectangle' type sink, but there's a bigger range of square edge sinks (like yours) - I presume these are more popular.. I'll be going with an undermount on a Fernside 38 build, having owned a undermount for the last 6 years, looks better and cleanup is so much easier also. Well worth the expense IMO. Re: Rawson Homes - General Thread 88Jan 22, 2017 4:44 pm Do you guys get regular updates from SS. Our SS kinda stopped giving updates when his deadlines kept being pushed out. Called on friday and he gave the impression he was being inconvenienced by the call asking for an update as to where we were at. Re: Rawson Homes - General Thread 90Jan 22, 2017 7:24 pm andy116 Hey MorningStar, How's it going? How's your build coming along, ours is going to start Feb just got assigned SS How much time for the completion- any idea? Hi Andy! Our build is going rather slow. They completed the bricks on the second week of January and last week the gutter and fascia were installed. Next week we're supposed to have our roofing done. We'll see how that goes. I will post a picture once the roof is completed. You're building a Huntley 30, aren't you... For a double storey, I think the contract says 40-42 weeks build time. Where are you building, Andy? alisonandrew Do you guys get regular updates from SS. Our SS kinda stopped giving updates when his deadlines kept being pushed out. Called on friday and he gave the impression he was being inconvenienced by the call asking for an update as to where we were at. I hate it when they do that. I made it really clear to our SS just before Christmas that we were unhappy with the way he communicated with us. He promised to give us an update once every fortnight so we'll see if he's a man of his word. Re: Rawson Homes - General Thread 92Jan 23, 2017 3:30 pm Hi guys, can anyone give a rough estimate of how long it took from the completion of bricks till move in date, just after a rough timeframe of how long i could be expecting Re: Rawson Homes - General Thread 94Jan 23, 2017 5:18 pm Would you guys have a list of available internal upgrades? I have my internals appointment in the next few weeks and was hoping to take a look at some of the items I can upgrade to. I'm not a fan of the tapware (as an example) and wouldn't mind seeing what is available as an upgrade. Re: Rawson Homes - General Thread 95Jan 23, 2017 5:19 pm We never got a list, sorry. If we knew we wanted to upgrade something, we asked about options at the appointment. Well if you don't have a lux package then look at the lux package details to get an idea of what is on offer. If you have lux and want something else then you tell them what you want and they will price it Generally best to keep within the same brands as they give them volume discounts but end of day they will price anything you want. Thanks red15 and AJW. I do have the lux package indeed but having seen the tapware in the display homes (the bathroom and laundry ones look a bit like lollipops and have large surrounding plates) I was hoping to upgrade to something a bit more sleek. I wasn't sure if they source these direct from the manufacturer or go through a retail/specialist store (like Beacon for the lighting and Elba for cabinetry) which would then be the "limit" of what I can choose. For those who have gone through the process, how does it work? Do you provide model numbers of the upgrades you would like to have and they price these up in the form of variations and get back to you? How does the kitchen cabinetry design work? I'm assuming they give you a pre-designed kitchen and you can mix and match the number of draws, draw sizes, shelving etc to your liking. Re: Rawson Homes - General Thread 98Jan 23, 2017 5:59 pm The kitchen design was pretty lacklustre, to be honest. I'd suggest going in with a very good idea of what you want because you probably won't get much guidance. With other stuff, we pretty much said 'we don't like the standard option, what else can we have' (though we liked the lollipop taps ) Re: Rawson Homes - General Thread 99Jan 23, 2017 6:19 pm anonymous- AJW anonymous- Would you guys have a list of available internal upgrades? I'm assuming they give you a pre-designed kitchen and you can mix and match the number of draws, draw sizes, shelving etc to your liking. Something's like lights they do go through beacon for. But they have a standard range programmed into Clipsec which they use to select and anything else you specify. With taps just tell them the model you want and be as exact as you can (part numbers) to ensure it is what you want. With taps pay particular attention to finishes as these change the part numbers. Kitchen selection was ordinary to say the least. What I did was my own plan and said I want this. Other than that bog standard design for the given house with options such as soft close, handless etc thrown in. I much preferred the procsss in my old place where I was given a kitchen allowance and told to make an appointment with the joinery company and pay them anything above the allowance. I also specified my own door type (they used Corinthian) and specified my door furniture (Gainsborough). Roller doors they use B&D again knew what I wanted before selection. So if anything best advice is know what you want before you go! Re: Rawson Homes - General Thread 100Feb 01, 2017 7:25 am Hi All Hoping someone can provide some advice... We are building a Balmoral and have noticed that our flashing has been done incorrectly in some places. In the places where second story brickwork meets a first story roof - the flashing has been done too high so it doesn't sit nicely on top of the first storey tiles so the water will not run off. you can see in the picture below it actually doesn't even meet the roof at all When we asked our SS about it he advised that the flashing has been installed 2 brick courses too high and is working on a solution. We are trying to find out what sort of solution would be acceptable as we don't want issues coming up later on with water run off etc Can anyone provide any advice? Thanks so much!
