Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 May 03, 2016 9:25 pm Hi All We have a problem. We were going to have citrus crush 62.60 (Wattyl I think) on the front door but the painter has advised us that it wont look good. The reason is that it needs a grey under coat and the fact that it is not a flat surface (like a feature wall) means that the paint will appear see through in the angled areas, where the trim meets the glass panes. We are trying to match the colour to the laminate colour "Juicy". Does anyone have any suggestions for alternatives or can you suggest different paint suppliers than the taubmans, Wattyl, solver etc. that produce a more robust green that we could substitute.? Thanks in advance. Re: Citrus Crush for a front door colour 3May 04, 2016 10:58 am The door way is out of direct sunlight and weather all year round so that is not an issue. Any suggestions on other paint brands? Can we get Benjamin Moore paints in Australia? They seem to have a fantastic range of bright greens. Re: Citrus Crush for a front door colour 4Aug 14, 2016 8:14 pm We are going with Taubman's Electricity (a neon chartreuse) - can't wait to see what it will look like against the very dark bricks we have chosen for our build: http://www.taubmans.com.au/colourcentre/colour-details/68708/electricity In the research I did prior to selecting a colour, it seems that it all depends on the orientation of your front door and the 'light reflectance value' of your chosen colour: http://thelandofcolor.com/lrv-light-reflectance-value-of-paint-colors/ The higher the number, the higher the reflective property of the paint. White is the highest and black the lowest. We have a mid-point LRV in Electricity, which is fine, as our front door is south-facing and therefore will not receive direct sun. We could have gone for a black or navy door if we wanted. Whereas, if your door gets direct sun, you might need to consider a colour with a lighter base. Also, re your painter's advice, I think you might consider a second option. The top coats should cover 100% of the undercoat, but that will depend on how they apply the paint. Best of luck!
