Sahara Q1 - happy ever after

Again coming back to your thread to report our progress! Sorry for that but this is the perfect platform for comments. Our amendments to the Mercer Q2 plan was approved with larger size bed rooms. The stand alone bath in the ensuite was replaced with a normal tiled bath and the location was changed. Today we signed the final quote and new colour appointment dates are Sep. 02nd and tender on Sept. 17th.

Where about are you planning to build?

We have standard wall tiles in bathrooms and they aren't up to ceiling. If you want wall tiles to go all the way to ceiling, that's an upgrade. Cost would be house dependent. Also pls keep in mind if you will upgrade wall tiles to higher category that will add up too.

We never found stairs to be dark. We only have one standard baton light in staircase which is generally stays on till we all go to bed. This light has double switch, can be operated from either end.

Those extra lights in staircase were close to $150 each. If you like them, pls check cost with your sales person.

Yep we are going with the Sahara Q1 and adding the rumpus and guest with ensuite options. We are planning to make a few changes in the ensuite and guest layout, as well as some changes to the rumpus. We are adding boutique sliders instead of the standard alfresco doors and going with full wooden treads in the stairs. We have put down the initial deposit already. We are not sure what facade to pick though - I like the piermont but I think the wood around the balcony will be a pain to maintain. The other facades with balconies are a bit too expensive but we need to have a large portico as per the Estate guidelines. I really like the colours you've chosen for your facade.

Did you increase the ceiling heights on each level? Or the alfresco sliders to 2400mm? Did you change any of the standard windows? Did you fit out the butlers?

Actually we were planning on building with Mainvue and did the intro to Cosham but decided to move away, so glad we found the Sahara.

We are building in the new estates above Craigieburn.

That's pretty good that you have decided on lot of changes to accommodate your requirements.

We didn't increase ceiling height, found it high enough for us. Butler pantry was fit out as per Aston display. You should be able to find pic in this thread. It was around $1350.

We have standard height timber sliders.

We would have loved to have Piermont facade, but budget restricted us. One used good quality product that wood would be fine for 3 years at least.

Henley facades are very expensive.

Sorry Izzyb, wifey has taken over most of newly created space (surprise face). I'm not allowed to post photos.

I used all material from Bradford range (bunnings). It's not expensive and easy DIY.
