Browse Forums Owner Builder Forum Re: Snapshot of our OB project... 84Apr 06, 2015 9:05 pm Yes unfortunately the weekend was only good for eating hot cross buns and chocolate! So not a total loss We have sooo much to do at the moment and this rain is relentless. To do list when this rain lets up is roof trusses, windows, more termimesh, drainage and wall wrapping. Re: Snapshot of our OB project...Frames, trusses and windows 85Apr 10, 2015 4:01 pm Thank goodness for some sunny weather. (I know it doesn't look like it! )Has been a productive week so far even though its been a short week due to Easter. Managed to get most of the roof trusses and windows installed, as well as the massive piece of steel ready for the 3rd garage. Hasn't come without its troubles though. This time it was windows. Unfortunately the windows didn't turn up when they were supposed to ,which left my 3 carpenters to twiddle their thumbs for the day $$$. Then when the windows did turn up 2 days later some were quite damaged Supplier knows so hopefully it won't keep being an issue.
Re: Snapshot of our OB project... 86Apr 10, 2015 5:27 pm Yes love love your commercial grade windows!!! I still need to check them out. Re: Snapshot of our OB project... 88Apr 12, 2015 10:08 pm Sorry have to post this as i find it funny. Had my own little handover today and gave myself the keys to the house! Kind of far less dramatic when your owner building and the house is nowhere near finished! Re: Snapshot of our OB project... 89Apr 12, 2015 10:12 pm nice keys!! did you get them key'd alike? Maybe you can use them to decorate something? Re: Snapshot of our OB project... 90Apr 13, 2015 7:51 am Yes so far they are all keyed alike. Nothing worse than having 10 different keys to get into your own house. Only other keys should be front door and internal garage one. Not sure what good they are at the moment. I'll settle for that they actually open/ lock the doors and windows when I get round to trying them out. This was because one weekend I took my other car (the one that did not have keys in it) and the only neighbour that had the spare set of keys (at this time) had gone away for the weekend. It would have been an 8 hour round trip and a tank of fuel for me to go home to get another set of keys. Or you can do what we do which is bury a key somewhere on the property. It helps when the property is pretty huge Re: Snapshot of our OB project... 93Apr 13, 2015 1:45 pm Ooh, who's up for a scavenger hunt at Yvonne's place! Re: Snapshot of our OB project... 96Apr 13, 2015 5:42 pm just finished going through the entire thread. I have to say .. house is looking good ... but definitely not enough pics posted .. Re: Snapshot of our OB project... 97Apr 13, 2015 6:41 pm Sorry in advance about hi-jacking your thread gandn! That's a lovely little house on a very large bit of dirt Yvonne! Good luck with it's sale, is it priced right for a reasonably quick turnover, or are you asking a higher price and waiting for someone to take it? That's a lovely little house on a very large bit of dirt Yvonne! Good luck with it's sale, is it priced right for a reasonably quick turnover, or are you asking a higher price and waiting for someone to take it? Thanks clintdb. That was our first build. Easy as we had a great builder! Thanks for the luck we're hoping for a sale soon. We've had nibbles but I think it's hard as we built it for us and everyone wants something different. Yep sorry gandn!! Re: Snapshot of our OB project... 99Apr 13, 2015 9:52 pm You guys are good value. Hijack away. The more the merrier In no particular order. Beetaloo. Guess if i had to travel 8 hours id be leaving a key with trusted neighbours too! Lucky for me i'm not moving very far, only a short 13 mins in no traffic. As for burying a key i'd probably forget where i buried it Is there any other treasure buried on your property yvonneh? Could be a good buy! Just had to google Where's Howes Valley was? Surprised to find it in Hunter Valley as im from Cessnock/ Pokolbin and never heard of it. Noice by the way! Deluded. I try to satisfy with the pictures but its never enough is it? I have soooo many more but trying not to put too many on and bore people. I dont have a blog so this is it. Do you guys want more??? What of? Re: Snapshot of our OB project... 100Apr 13, 2015 10:04 pm gandn I think I take photos of everything that is new. And then I post up maybe 60% of them (as some of them are crap and some of them are reference photos and some of them are repeats). Just post em up. We'll self curate if we get bored. Haven't seen it happen yet! As for burying the key... we take photos and mark it up for ourselves! With stupid instructions like "after you get to the big rock, turn and face the 3rd tree on the left which looks like it will topple over. Then walk 10 'big' steps forward. You will then see another big rock... then go... " etc. So it is like a scavanger hunt. Thank goodness we don't forget our keys There is heaps of good treasure in the property. I am trying to work out a way to incorporate a bakers oven (woodfire) into our new house. It will be a few years down the track but I think we built the whole house around wanting one! Oh and a firepit! And fig trees which are finally fruiting. Hi all, We are looking to build a new two storey house in western Sydney. Can anyone recommend a smallish builder to go with? We are trying to stay away from the big… 0 12490 Looking to tile the facade pillars rather than rendering. Builder is quoting 2500$ laying cost for upto 10msq. The 2 pillars come to be 16msq. So laying costs are 5000$… 0 8139 0 3585 |
