Completely forgot that we've flipped this design, so that window is actually north facing. I'm no good with the whole orientation thing and whether or not it's good to have more or less windows etc. I get that you should have all of your living rooms facing North or West if you can, hence the flip. I think removing it and centring the other window is the way to go. Re: Window conundrum...to leave or remove? 11Mar 22, 2015 8:32 am Reasons to keep it:
These reasons are mainly relevant if it's to be a multi-purpose living space. If it's only to be used as a theatre, then it may be better to feel more a darker and closed space - which is probably better achieved without the window. I'd only worry about the symmetry of the wall if you plan on keeping the furnishings symmetric. Looking at the plan I'm wondering why you don't have an internal door to the garage? Re: Window conundrum...to leave or remove? 12Mar 22, 2015 9:22 am Thanks oneJohn. All points that I've been struggling with. We're building in SE Melbourne for those interested. Oh, and we do have an internal garage door. I just quickly grabbed the floorplan from the builders website (sorry, was being lazy). Re: Window conundrum...to leave or remove? 13Mar 22, 2015 10:27 am I think it comes down to what you're using the room for JP79. If you're planning on using it as only a home theatre room, get rid of it. If it's more like a second living area that will be multi-purpose, keep it. Don't worry about the aesthetics of it - you can offset it on the other side with a tall floor lamp or art work or vase or something.
