Re: Filling holes with putty or no more gaps ? 3Jan 01, 2015 9:56 am Beetaloo My experience is that no more gaps shrink leaving a slight indentation and it is also hard to remove all the excess from around the hole. I am old school and prefer to use a filler that dries and can by sanded like polyfiller if the timber is to be painted. That's what I was concerned about, the shrinking of no more gaps, leaving that indentation. Likewise up until yesterday I had planned to use wood putty to fill, then sand off the excess. Agreed, keep it as close to the natural wood colour/stain, but since it is being painted there's no need to match the colour, as the primer then paint will cover it up.
