Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Oct 03, 2014 4:36 pm I'm having new kitchen tiles put in and I want the grout to match them. They're bright red, and the only matching grout I can find is an epoxy grout. The tile people don't want to do this (they've said it's "difficult"). They want to either try to mix a grout which won't be the same colour or use white. I'm trying to understand their reluctance, I don't want to be pushy and I am prepared to pay more for the epoxy if it's harder/longer work (and of course more expensive materials) and I have told them this. Any advice? Is there a good reason I shouldn't go with epoxy as a material? Thanks for any advice/feedback. Re: Epoxy grout question 2Oct 13, 2014 11:23 pm Could try houzz site on google. They seem to know a bit... and it is considerably harder to apply but very durable. don't know about cracking and larger areas, Leonardo_23 Re: Epoxy grout question 3Oct 14, 2014 2:54 pm Amateur. I've read up on this and found- There are good advantages to epoxy grout. Far more mould resistant than ordinary grout. Has excellent flexibility so it doesn't dry and fall out as standard grout may. My guess the tiler doesn't want to use it is setting time and clean up. Epoxy grout sets quite quickly and you need to have reasonable experience with it. Therefore will take longer to actually grout as it is made up in smaller batches. It can be somewhat more difficult to clean up. Only an amateur and stand corrected but this is what I've found in my research for our bathrooms. Re: Epoxy grout question 5Oct 24, 2014 5:40 pm Epoxy is just harder work for the tiler- it can definitely be used! I have epoxy grout. Re: Epoxy grout question 6Oct 26, 2014 12:38 pm I used bright red 150x150 for my splash backs. Found some bright red silicon on line from the U.K. Been there for a couple of years now, still good and smooth, and no grout to clean or fall out. 3 5929 Thanks splashers, that makes sense.
