Mon 21 Jul - Sun 19 Jul 2014 (Day 148-152) Also the electrician were back on sight to finish off the remainder of ground floor light fittings, also got to see a sneak peak of the partial kitchen pendant lights (only the pendant no globe as yet) Think this is just incase it gets stolen. Received a call from the Contract admin stating that windows in the master have to NOW be fully translucent because A&L windows do not do 1700mm high translucent windows and these needed to be translucent or else wont pass for occupancy permit. Apparently due to the 3pm shadow , these windows needed to be at a minimal 1700mm translucent which we were advised need to be done in order to get the building permit approved. But now they going to be fully translucent (No more view from my Fingers cross I will receive a call from SS next week Hello, Hello! Finally made it on here! It's all looking wonderful! I agree with everyone else all your colours blend in so nicely together - you have done a fantastic job in picking your colors! Haha I have pendent lights over my bench too. Do you have a picture of yours? I'm going to laugh if they are the same! I may just be stressed and tried buy I don't understand the issue with your windows (sounds pretty dam annoying for them to realise it at this stage!). I have double glazed windows and was told that A&L do not do translucent windows, but they can put a translucent film on them. This is what we are getting done in all the bathrooms. What's 1700mm translucent? Are these estate guidelines? Is your master bedroom looking into someone's else property or the front of the house? Why is the 3pm sun such a big deal? Regardless of my silly questions have you checked the A&L web site for options? If you found out this was going to be a problem earlier could you have moved these windows? Just ideas...... I am hoping to see a post from you soon saying your SS has rung! Keep me updated! Hiya Dsbuild Here is a photo of the Windows to top floor The top left small window is the Our Master Bedroom Toilet window which we paid extra $150 to have translucent. The other two at 1700mm high in translucent are to my Master Bedroom window which was council guidelines.. (these will now have to stay fully translucent) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I raised this to the them the very first day when the windows were installed and noticed they were FULLY translucent but they advised that they were going to be rectified.. And it was only as we are reaching final completion that I followed up again and that they made enquirer to A&L which has now come back stating they dont do 1/2 (1700mm) translucent.. So ya if I knew this from the start I would have chosen perhaps higher windows or something.. Also its not that I can see into the neighbors bedrooms or anything, its ONLY the top roof of my neighbors garage roof !!! But what to do.. booo hoooo.. Mon 28 Jul - Sun 03 Aug 2014 (Day 153-157) Not much to update this week besides Gas Company (Energy Australia) called to to advise they were coming out to connect the Gas meter and the Kitcehn Island Pendant lights were fitted. So most of my week was spent running around getting quote from different plumbers to see the cost of relocating the Water Meter post handover. Tip for those starting to build, make sure you check the location of your water meter as its NOT cheap to relocate We getting quotes of around the $1500 to relocate and thats not including the application fees to the Water Company. Anyone know of any cheap Plumbers who can relocate Water Meter approx 6 meters? As far as I can remember, u would have to wait about another 2 weeks for PCI from the day it booked, but that's still very soon, just a bliiiiinnnnnkkkkkk, ha! Still no phone call from the SS to advise house is ready for PCI appointment. I dont feel any love at the moment... It seem just like a waiting games these last few weeks. Hopefully by this time next week I have something to report on Week 32- Still Awaiting PCI!! Mon 11 Aug - Sun 17 Aug 2014 (Day 163-167) It is now beyond a joke as its been three (3) whole weeks since the sight fence and hired equipment were removed and yet I am still waiting for the SS to call and book the PCI inspection Despite my Contract Admin advising me last week that the SS was due to call this week to book me in for the PCI inspection ( House was still going through some internal QA's checks) BUT it did not happen... I am now getting very frustrated as the house has been left in the same state it was three weeks ago and there are STILL a few items that I raised early on yet have not been actioned. I must say I was fortunate we did not run into major hiccups during the build but the last few weeks just waiting for the final inspection is really making me think twice with building again with volume builders or am I just one of those unlucky ones??? Sorry I have been slack! Why? That is my only question I would be asking them! If they have a good reason as to why your PCI as not been book, then ok. But why not book it? If they cannot do it for a month, then book it in a months time! Then that way at least you would know that you most likely would be moving in 6 weeks! It's just c*%p that they are making you wait! I think you and me both have been unlucky (mine is continuing!). Maybe Burbank are just better at building smaller house! I am hoping you get a date some time this week! Figures crossed! Good luck! When we went in for the PCI the next day the SS was already there when we arrived and surprise surprise the broken mirror door was rolled behind the other door to hide it. So I rolled it out and said in mock surprise "Oh look, it's broken". He was visibly annoyed. I'm guessing he'd hoped to blame it on us after handover. He'd also parked his ute in the driveway extremely coincidentally right on top of the spot where a concreter had spilled some cement water and made a big grubby splash mark on the new coloured driveway. After 3 weeks of no movement at the house I had to but contact admin for an update and asked.. Admin also couldn't tell me much so arrange for ss to call me to discuss my concerns .... So SS called today (finally) but again no date..now he telling me it may be another few weeks ( I was not pleased to hear this ) and said coz hes really busy with other build in same stages as mine ... i grunted and said that what you told me last time we spoke ( which was 3 weeks ago) then later he said he call back this friday and see .. errrr lets see It's really fustrating not being able to get a time frame as this means I cannot book any tradies , let alone put my house on the rental market til I know what's happening.. I am very disappointed with how things are turning out and level of service..We are so close to the finish line but yet so far.. Anyone know how long from pci inspection does Burbank arrange for occupancy permit ? Or does it come first ? Mon 18 Aug - Sun 24 Aug 2014 (Day 168-172) After (3) weeks of no activities we finally have some update to post As at start of the week the below were the outstanding issues that needed to be addressed by the builder:- - Main Bathroom En suite Window (translucent film to be removed) - Covering for External wall vents - Gap between brickwork and Kitchen/ Pantry windows frames - Water Meter relocation - Change External sensor lights (Single globes as opposed to double have been ordered/installed) - Excess Dry Concrete removed from Rear of Garage After 3 weeks of no movements/activities at the house I had to but contact admin to see whats going on. Admin couldn't tell me much as no updates was provided to her also so she arranged SS to call me directly to address my concerns / outstanding issues. SS eventually called me Tuesday (finally!!!) but again 'no date'.. He only called to run through the last few items/issue I raised (some dates back to start of the build) and then advised he will address my issues and contact me in few weeks to book PCI. I was not at all pleased when I heard that.. I then went on asking him why there hasn't been any progress on the house the last few weeks but all he could advise was he's been working on other builds around that is at the same stages as mine ... I grunted and stated 'thats what you told me last time we spoke 3 weeks ago' . So in the end we comprised that he'll call back Friday and we can work when we can book in PCI. ( I am happy with that, even if its in a few weeks at least I have a date to work towards) On Thursday, the issues I raised were addressed, it such a better feeling than how I've been feeling the last few weeks I tell you. Below was the issues fixed Main Bathroom En suite Window (translucent film removed) Anyone know how they remove this film without replacing/ damaging windows???? Fri 22 Aug - PCI booked - Day 172 Thought this would be another week of disappointment but finally just after lunch the SS called to advise the what needed to be done prior to PCI. He asked for me to arrange for my independent inspector to come do the inspection next Wednesday 27th August (alone) and then for me to bring the report along on PCI day. So yes finally PCI inspection has been booked for Tuesday 02 September @ 7:30am (Week 35) I know I know you may be asking why so early on the day but at least I now have a date to work with I was told by admin they have 14 days to fix any defect after PCI so hoping I get the the keys by Fri 19th September ( (Week 37) Lets see how !!
