Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Our Benham 33 journey 1502Nov 23, 2012 11:07 am belle n dave XXX XXX is/was our CSO. Our experience has been mostly positive. Some of the return phone calls may have taken a little longer than I would have liked, but always within a day or two. Our current variation count is at 96... Everything we have asked for has been clearly documented and authorised from both ends. The frustrating thing is that all expectations in terms of turnaround time, is that you do have to allow for the maximum time advised. Re: Our Benham 33 journey 1503Nov 23, 2012 11:30 am Wow, don't know how they're coping with 96 variations! They seem to be struggling to get their A into G and sort out my 4 variations... Re: Our Benham 33 journey 1505Nov 23, 2012 11:43 am Tondar munchi Wow, don't know how they're coping with 96 variations! They seem to be struggling to get their A into G and sort out my 4 variations... persistence and clarity if only Tondar...been there done that Re: Our Benham 33 journey 1508Nov 23, 2012 12:18 pm Well contracturally they haven't held up their end of the deal so you should get your money back. I'm sure if you threatened legal action they'd ablige. Re: Our Benham 33 journey 1509Nov 23, 2012 12:36 pm You know what - I just realised that I hadn't heard anything from my CSO about our second lot of DA plans because she never sent me through the amended variations list for sign off on the 14th. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR .. I just called her and emailed her and no response. I have also asked to be booked in for internal selection before xmas - this is just a joke how slowly it's moving.. If we don't do internals in December we have no chance in hell getting a contract by Jan 20. I don't know why they can't just let you do internals and externals at the same time, it would sure save alot of time for everyone involved.. Re: Our Benham 33 journey 1510Nov 23, 2012 1:42 pm Our CSO is Angela at the Sydney office. Mostly positive experience, but one thing that was missed was I had to contact someone else to get the drawings of our stormwater system which were dated over 6 weeks prior, I would have liked to see this as soon as it was available. I think the problem generally is that they have so many jobs at the moment, so each person is getting loaded up with more and more files - which can only lead to things being missed as context swapping isn't always easy Still waiting to hear back from my demolisher... getting frustrated! Re: Our Benham 33 journey 1511Nov 23, 2012 1:56 pm Hi everyone My wife and I, Jo (who is already part of this forum) are building the Seaview 36. I though I'd join the blog from time to time to share my experiences as I have been dealing with the admin from day one. We signed our Tender in early June with a 270 day Tender period. Our plans have now been in Council for 4 and 1/2 weeks so we aren't too far away from getting our approval and then our CC. We estimate a slab in mid January/ early February. All this is within our Tender period. The thing we have enjoyed is being able to change things even after we have signed off without incurring an admin fee. For example; we changed our kitchen a few times, we changed our tile selection and now about to change the carpet downstairs. The biggest thing we changed was some of our external colours even after it was approved by the estate and after it was submitted to Council. We also had issues with our progress payments but Rawson agreed to amend it with no issues. The valuation has now come back and all looks good to go, thank god for that. Essentially, we have been pretty happy with the costings of variations and the fact we have FIXED costs. My brother is building with W and each week there is something new to pay for. Being a solicitor, I told him not sign the contract with W until he found out his site costs but he didn't listen to me. Anyway, in comparison Rawson is pretty good. We are now eagerly awaiting construction to see it all come together. It seems in our estate that once the slab goes down things happen very fast. We are hoping this continues. Re: Our Benham 33 journey 1512Nov 23, 2012 2:15 pm Koroboo & Building the S36: dont get me wrong majority of our experience with Rawson has been enjoyable I am just finding it very frustating that there have been sooo many errors and delays during a crucial stage of the process and I too have seen noticed that in our estate once the slab has been poured the Rawson homes are flying up...dont mean to sound like a whinger, like I said I am just frustrated Re: Our Benham 33 journey 1513Nov 23, 2012 2:18 pm Belle n dave- dont get me wrong, I totally understand. We have been become frustrated a few times with the delays but all it took was a stern email and wow- things started happening faster from that day on. I think the key is to be stern but not rude. In fairness, my clients are the same with me when I delay things!!! Re: Our Benham 33 journey 1514Nov 23, 2012 3:38 pm Building with S36 welcome to the thread great to see someone being positive as well. We ended up with a 227 (or 8 I can't remember) tender and the build has been a little slow at the moment but I keep reminding myself of why we picked Rawson and the fact that we'll have a gorgeous house. Hopefully everyones problems sort themselves out soon.. I'm heading out to our block over the weekend. I refused to take the time to drive out there after work each day when nothing is changing.. My very first blog http://benham33.blogspot.com.au/ Re: Our Benham 33 journey 1515Nov 23, 2012 4:39 pm Building the S36 - I agree with you on being stern but not rude. For us, we had to have a slab down by a certain date and were quite stressed that we would not make it. We werent really aware at the time that we could have gotten an extension for the stamp duty rules on the block. If we did know this, then maybe we wouldnt have been in a hurry - well maybe we would have, but at least we wouldnt have been so stressed about it. Rawson is inundated at the moment. They probably werent prepared for the business that they have and now they are scrambling to catch up and to train new staff. The administration is the most frustrating phase of the build. Lack of communication and missing timeframes annoy me, but now that we actually have some action on our site, it has all melted away and I am excited again to see what is happening I received an email from someone because of my blog. They asked if I was still happy that I had chosen Rawson. I answered them that I am very happy that I chose Rawson. While they were slow in the administration phase they are a lot better and quicker than a lot of other builders. also the concretors doing my slab, one of them is building with Rawson. Surely that is advertisement enough. If they were not a good builder, would their own subbies be building with them. My slab form was finished today Bring on the slab pour early next week and then frames. My very first blog http://benham33.blogspot.com.au/ Re: Our Benham 33 journey 1518Nov 24, 2012 10:08 am Good news here, might have demo commencing as early as 3rd of Dec, not sure if this will mean we get anything done on the actual house before Christmas, but it's one less thing to worry about. Fingers crossed for all to be confirmed next week! Re: Our Benham 33 journey 1519Nov 26, 2012 5:26 pm How is everyone going? Tiler started today, hopefully he's nice and quick! Built the Seaview 36 with Rawson Homes - Read about it on my blog http://lamaisondemorgan.blogspot.com.au/ Re: Our Benham 33 journey 1520Nov 26, 2012 6:00 pm Smorgzzz- that's great about your tiles. Fingers crossed its done quickly and without any dramas. Very frustrating as was told 2 weeks ago our file was with drafting when today we were sent our final variations. I rang to find out what was going on to be told that our file went to drafting today and would take another 2-3 weeks as they are very busy. Just where has our file been for the last 2 weeks??? At this stage it's not looking promising to make it to council before Xmas like I had hoped. I'm not too confident about the next lot of plans being right anyway and if they aren't then who knows when they will be ready???? Gotta love the admin stage!! Any advice on how to ensure the kit home granny flat that im thinking of buying will get council approval. The kit home companys wont release plans without a deposit and… 0 7649 of course there are legal avenues. You've already mentioned it. Sue them. I find it odd that lawyers wouldnt be willing to take on the case, given CCT evidence and… 1 24419 "Losers" "humanity" "off time" "your" "top notch" "love symbol" Sounds like ponzo is done using other people's toilets 36 24886 |
