Looking for advice.
I’m currently building with Metricon and it’s been a never ending process (3 years to be exact) to get building plans correct, permits, council approval for shadowing ect.
However my latest issue is that Metricon took a punt to build my garage over an unused easement so when they presented the building plans to the council to grant the building permit it was rejected from the council due to not allowing a build over easement.
Yes Metricon should of picked up on this and not left it last minute.
My house has been bulldozed and I’m not renting ( it’s been 5 months already)
Metricon said they apply for the building permit once the house gets bulldozed…
Metricon then pressured me to get unconditional finance for my build or else my contract will come to an end. I went to my broker who advised the banks require a building permit and without the building permit we can give unconditional finance.
So Metricon ended my contract and issued a end of contract letter.
They have now given a new contract but it’s a 30k increase in base price and aren’t willing to budge.
Any thoughts what I should do??? Metricon should not of taken a punt thinking they could built a garage over an unused easement and this has led me to not receive a building permit and forking out cost for mortgage every month, delays with new updated plans to support the unused easement and rent every month for my new place and 30k price increase.
Very frustrated as you can imagine.
