Browse Forums Building Standards; Getting It Right! 1 Dec 11, 2018 12:09 pm Hi all, I'm in Bracken Ridge and planning a DIY deck build . I'm trying to ascertain please what the requirements are for footings for 1) ground level deck 2) patio cover (similar to basic flat stratco style with cooldeck panels) I want to construct proper footings for the roof, at the same time as building the deck, so it's much easier to do the roof later. So how can I find out what type/depth/size footings are required or both a ground level deck and a patio roof please? Also are there any particular standards around decking materials, joist spacing etc ? I'd assume appropriate treated pine for poles/bearers/joists, with the poles set in stirrups bolted to concrete footings, 450 centres for joists etc. Unless something has changed around standards? I might add that the Brisbane City Council website is both hard to navigate and doesn't seem to have this info. Plus their 'planners / engineers' IF they call back generally take about a week to do so.... Re: Deck standards esp re footings ?
