Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Aug 13, 2013 10:47 pm Hi guys, I am having floor wastes in my bathrooms (one in shower and another one in centre of the bathroom) I am worried about the smell that will come up from the floor waste especially downstairs where it sits on concrete slabs (meaning there cannot be an s-bend on the pipework, so there could be smell coming straight up) I have come across 3 types of accessories that you can plug into the floor waste to prevent smell coming up Deks GrateMate http://www.deks.com.au/wp-content/uploa ... teMate.pdf Aussie Drain Mate http://www.aussiedrainmate.com.au/faq/ Grate Seal http://www.grateseal.com.au/ Drain Fresh http://www.reece.com.au/new/pdf/products/drainfresh.pdf I did a search and I cannot find many results where people talk about this here, so I thought I might open the thread to see who have used them and what you think about it. Does it really work? Do you have it on your floor waste? Does it really smell if you don't have these? Thanks Re: Anyone tried Aussie Drain Mate/Grate Seal/Dekfit Grate M 3Aug 16, 2013 10:07 am All floor wastes should have an S or P-trap fitted as standard ( correct me here any plumbers reading this ) and I'm pretty sure it is common as per Australian Standard AS 3500 for that very reason. The sewer pipes are laid prior to the slab being poured and are basically in the soil under the slab. Whoops. We bought a drain mate and problem solved. One small drawback is that the waste grill doesn't sit flush with the rest of the waste as its raised a couple of mil.... But we can live with that much more comfortably than the smell. Re: Anyone tried Aussie Drain Mate/Grate Seal/Dekfit Grate M 7Jun 06, 2022 7:56 pm Hi Pulse, sorry mate my reply was to the questiuon about drain mate. Drain mate is a plastic flap that is meant to keep out the stink . It is not a P or S trap but a mechanical seal. It is crap and doesnt work. I wish my are shole plumma put in a trap but he was ill equipped in the mental faculty department or dodge ee or both. I think about the cant of a plumma every day and how he far qed my property. Re: Anyone tried Aussie Drain Mate/Grate Seal/Dekfit Grate M 8Jun 07, 2022 9:57 am Pulse The floor waste is charged by a bath or basin, if they go dry they will let in sewer gas, common issue in a new build. If they are connected properly they don't go dry here Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Designer,Engineer (Civil,Const & Envir),Builder,Concrete & Masonry Contract.Struct Repairs Re: Anyone tried Aussie Drain Mate/Grate Seal/Dekfit Grate M 9Jun 07, 2022 10:00 am howy I wish my are shole plumma put in a trap but he was ill equipped in the mental faculty department or dodge ee or both.
