Re: Your Kitchen Sink? 2Aug 23, 2015 11:02 pm I selected Franke for my Alfresco, Kitchen, Scullery and Laundry. Franke Planar 8 Kitchen and Scullery have the same size, will be going the larger size in the Alfresco. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Why did I go with this sink. I liked the flush/ top mount and the squarish lines. I was originally going to get a Barazza sink with the square waste hole but was advised that they are a pain to live with. I like the Franke look at the offset tap placement with a remote waste release. For the Laundry we are using this one. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Hope it helps. I realise they are a little more expensive but I don't think one ever changes sinks unless the kitchen is being remodelled. I don't plan on doing that for a long time hence I thought I would spend a little more. Hope that helps. Cheers Mark Re: Your Kitchen Sink? 3Aug 24, 2015 9:36 am I have a fairly deep double bowl inset sink because its deepness allows me to wash plates without splattering water all over myself. It also helps me to soak the plates in soap water in one sink and rinse them in the other sink. Re: Your Kitchen Sink? 5Sep 02, 2015 1:41 pm Undermount double sink. We loved the undermount in our previous house as it looks great and is so clean. No lip around the edge to get grimey and crumbs etc can just be wiped straight into the sink and washed away. We also had the accessories to fit neatly into the top of the sink - chopping board on one side, dish drainer on the other. Besides being quite useful it was great when unexpected guests came. We would just put all the dirty dishes in the sink and put the "lid" on to hide them! Lol Re: Your Kitchen Sink? 7Sep 04, 2015 2:17 pm Does anyone have an Abbey Lago sink? We've been offered a package by our kitchen joiner but aren't sure.. I love the Franke sinks if the budget stretches. It's true they are there a long time. Re: Your Kitchen Sink? 9Sep 04, 2015 6:46 pm I am using the Minta tap in the laundry, alfresco, kitchen and scullery. They are a little more pricey but we'll made. Re: Your Kitchen Sink? 11Sep 05, 2015 8:47 pm I'm having a basic old fashion double bowl stainless inset sink with a drainer on the side. Agree with Dan, when I worked at Bunnings a lot of customers complained that the square sinks were difficult to keep clean and some also found the under mount sinks to be problematic because gunk would build up in the joins. Re: Your Kitchen Sink? 12Sep 07, 2015 6:15 pm When we renovated our kitchen we had Corian benchtops installed so we went with the seamless white Corian sink. Would not ever choose this option again, it looks constantly dirty, no matter how often we clean it. We chose the Corian sink because we liked the idea of no joins, and it was totally seamless. Love the Corian benchtop, but not the sink. Re: Your Kitchen Sink? 14Oct 23, 2015 3:15 pm After much consideration I decided on a large single bowl sink. Idea being that I can easily wash\soak oven trays or the BBQ. I have bought a draining tray that will sit over one half, then I can move this when I need to use the whole sink. Giving me the best of both works, big sink, and a sink with drainer but without taking up more than 72cm of bench real estate Ours will be drop-in as opposed to undermount. I was concerned about chipping the sides of the stone bench, or chipping crockery on the stone edges. My mother has an undermount sink with a drainer cut into the stone top, her feedback was that the the drainer looked dirty easily, and of the usual dirt build-up at the top of the sink where it meets the bench. with Re: Your Kitchen Sink? 17Oct 24, 2015 3:52 pm eeney After much consideration I decided on a large single bowl sink. My husband is in the trade and says if the edge gets chipped anything acidic like vinegar or lemon juice will eat into the stone as well. Hes seen it happen more than once. Re: Your Kitchen Sink? 18Oct 25, 2015 5:25 am I read a lot of discussions about undermount v drop in. Then I came across the concept of 'flush mount', ie. drop-in but flush with the counter so you can just wipe straight across. Flush mount seemed to offer the best of both worlds (unless you're hell bent on the cosmetics of undermount), however my kitchen company don't have a machine to do flush mount. Black sink - how is it going for 'keeping clean', I looked closely at a black sinks, they look very striking in a white benchtop, and would have matched our induction, but 'keeping clean' was my fear. Re: Your Kitchen Sink? 19Oct 25, 2015 10:19 pm I'll find out soon how it is for keeping clean, haven't moved in yet Re: Your Kitchen Sink? 20Nov 04, 2015 8:53 pm Hi, We are building our first home. I was thinking about undermount and my builder quoted me $520 to round the stone and $350 in lieu of standard Clark Monaco 1 .75 bowl sink. I am seriously considering flush mount can some one tell me if they have to special work on stone top or is it same as over mount sink installation Thanks mate. Yeah good points!
