Re: Finish dishwashing tablets 22Sep 24, 2010 1:50 pm beckandbubs Just a stupid question... but do your clothes come out smelling of vinegar? No You can vaguely smell the vinegar in the machine, but even if we put very damp clothes in the dryer om hot, they don't come out smelling like vinegar. I've found also that sometimes there would be a build up of "gunk" in the machine, seems to have lessened/disappeared since switching to vinegar. Re: Finish dishwashing tablets 24Sep 24, 2010 2:08 pm chrisandkate Slightly off topic, but we use vinegar as fabric softener too. The Wife has some skin trouble with most brands of soaps/detergents/etc.. Makes it a pain when someone changes the formula. White vinegar as an equal part replacement for fabric softener is great. I'm going to test the dish washer version, just as soon as i get a dishwasher (hurry up builder and give me my final quote) Also add bi carb to your clothes wash towel they come out smelling nice and fresh. Maybe we need a need thread 101 uses for bicard & vinegar Cheers Lou http://take2-customdesigndownslope.blogspot.com 07-10-09 omg they have cut the block 14-05-10 we finally have the keys Re: Finish dishwashing tablets 25Sep 24, 2010 5:30 pm LOL this is a funny thread. Just don't add bicarb to vinegar unless you want endless foam. It causes a reaction that produces vast quantities of bubbles. People make one happy, not houses? I do not think so. Houses are more to be trusted than people. The vinegar kills the bacteria and they come out smelling fresh again. I buy vinegar in BULK because there are just so many uses for it!! Re: Finish dishwashing tablets 27Sep 28, 2010 5:47 pm We have an Asko and use normal dishwashing powder, finish/morning fresh, whatever is on special and the dishes have always come out sparkling clean, never a trace of residue like my old dishwasher. Decided to try the bicarb and vinegar, dishes came out clean, but not quite that spotless finish you get with detergent. I was surprised the bicarb worked so well. Re: Finish dishwashing tablets 28Sep 29, 2010 10:30 am I have gone back to the powder too, tablets lefts bits sometimes,at the moment i am trying morning fresh powder & am happy with it:n: Fab idea about the bi-carb which you can use to clean heaps through-out the house, there prob is more than the 101 different uses My mum has used vinegar for years in her last rinse for her clothes, gets the soap out, also great for floors & windows. I will give the bi-carb a go too, when my new bottle is finished, cheers Block bought 1st RBC X! 2nd Ventrua,Keeper! Not sure if this helps - but you can buy bi-carb soda from your local pool shop (otherwise known as pH and alkalinity raisers) - I haven't compared the pricing to the grocery stores as I own a pool shop but if you need larger amounts (eg 2kg etc) for the dishwasher it could be a cheaper way to buy it Re: Finish dishwashing tablets 30Oct 04, 2010 3:42 pm We only just got a dishwasher, came with the Finish tablets, we just used the Finish powder which comes in the form of a disintegrating tablet casing filled with powder. Seemed to work good. Built with New Generation (Summit Homes) We own land!... with a slab on it! Plus a shell of a house with stuff inside ! Re: Finish dishwashing tablets 31Oct 04, 2010 9:17 pm I use bi-carb and vinegar for EVERYTHING... floors, washing machine, basic cleaning. I use vinegar in the rinse cycle of the washing machine and add a couple of drops of lavender oil to give a nice fragrance..... Re: Finish dishwashing tablets 32Oct 05, 2010 11:04 am Great topic! I would never consider using bi-carb, should try it now But I also bought a huge pack of tablets recently, so here is a silly question How do you cut the tablet in half? Just use scissors and cut? What about this red thingy in the middle? Re: Finish dishwashing tablets 33Oct 13, 2010 9:47 pm Morgaine Great topic! What about this red thingy in the middle? FYI bicarb is present in all powder cleaners Most importantly people often forget to "clean dishwasher" every now and then to avoid accumulation of rime and fats in pipes and the like. Re: Finish dishwashing tablets 34Oct 13, 2010 11:25 pm What a great thread. I would have simply kept using tablets time and time again until my machine clogged. We use "Earth's Choice" and couldn't really fault them. I am keen to try the bicarb and vinger though too. Re: Finish dishwashing tablets 36Oct 14, 2010 8:33 am LOL. . .I was just thinking that ...having read the post. . well over 2 hours. Unless the new process has resulted in super ultra bright shiny dishes that has blinded the entire household...heh heh. Re: Finish dishwashing tablets 38Oct 14, 2010 8:17 pm Make sure that there is either vinegar or rinse aid in the dispenser because otherwise you will get cloudy glasses etc!
