We removed the one that was visible to the rest of the house as the waterfall benchtop is a feature and we didn't want it ruining it (considering the benchtop is black). We have so many other powerpoints in the kitchen we figured how many electrical things will we have plugged in at once?? We've added them above a half-width cupboard which will have a retractable door on it (you can open the door, but then slide it into the cupboard out of the way). This will have a slide-out tea towel rack in it. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ If we're put on this earth to help others, what are the others here for? That was the only option for us from PD. At first they were reluctant to cut into the stone so we thought about putting it into a cupboard but then they said they would do it so we got it. I got the idea from H3nley displays, almost every house of theirs that I went into had it. I only have four GPO's in the kitchen, two are used permanently, one is near the oven which I don't use hardly at all and then the one on the Island which gets used alot. Happy at Home Re: powerpoint on waterfall island bench 8May 28, 2009 4:12 pm This is a snazzy idea. You'd have to get a hole drilled into your benchtop, but the GPOs would sit flush with the benchtop when not in use. This is from: http://www.hafelehome.com.au. They have lots of cool stuff. Happy at Home Re: powerpoint on waterfall island bench 10May 28, 2009 6:07 pm thanks sunflower, sounds like it might be the way to go, just wondering though what about the handle on the cupboard door? is their a big enough gap for the handle to slide in too? am i making any sense!! To be honest I'm not too sure! It will probably not have a handle as such, but a finger hollow or something at the top of the door to open it. I have just realised that we are going to have a power supply issue in our new kitchen as the wall where the point is that I use all the time is going to be demolished in our renovation and I don't know how we are going to get power there. Here is our kitchen plan, I would do most of the cooking at the open corner side. There is less room beside the sink and the appliance cupboard that there appears. Yeah, I'm guessing you'd just give it a light tap to make it spring up, then push it down into place when you're done. I've not seen it actually used anywhere, I just saw it in the catalogue and thought it was pretty cool. If we're put on this earth to help others, what are the others here for? My friend had her Kitchen built with 2 power points on the waterfall stone, it looked a bit odd to me and she had probs closing the drawers on that side. She is used to it now but I decided to go with the overhang. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All new built homes look like display homes... until the furniture goes in. (Hate the idea of not readily accessible power points.) Demolition August 2009, Construction Started September 2009, Completed December 2010 Re: powerpoint on waterfall island bench 19May 19, 2011 2:44 pm How about a pop-up power point?? It would be less noticeable than a traditional outlet. Better still you can mount it on the top of your bench to avoid spoiling the look of your Caesaratone waterfall altogether. I saved the below photos from someone’s thread last year (sorry I can’t remember who and I hope they don’t mind)! They are made by Clipsal and are available in white too- I reckon if you have a white bench like ice snow or similar you would not even notice it if you place a fruit platter or something next to it. If the pop-ups don’t float your boat and you want an outlet on the waterfall itself then the Clipsal Saturns are pretty shmick too and come in slimline black and white- less obvious than a metal finish IMO. Cheers http://i1200.photobucket.com/albums/bb326/inverell/ClipsalPop-upoutlet1.jpg http://i1200.photobucket.com/albums/bb326/inverell/ClipsalPop-upoutlet2.jpg http://i1200.photobucket.com/albums/bb326/inverell/ClipsalPop-upOutletWhite.jpg Re: powerpoint on waterfall island bench 20May 19, 2011 3:25 pm I think that build was Nathan's? The only issue I would have with the pop-ups is that they will impact on whatever is below the benchtop. Ie in some cases you wouldn't be able to have a drawer as there may be a clearance issue. I have a double PP on the "dead" side of my island bench. It is the farthest away side so not seen unless you walk to that end. Both of my ends are 80mm waterfalls and as it was mounted on the side had no impact on the drawers / cupboards on the other side of the waterfalls. Some things are worth waiting for.
