Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Apr 16, 2010 4:59 pm I have just received the pre purchase building inspection on a house i was interested in however the report is not good. It tells me that the kitchen in the house which was built in the 1970's has been built by laying sand then brick pavers ontop of that, NO CONCRETE SLAB???? WHAT THE? What can i do if i were to purchase this? The builder said something about getting a coating put over the pavers to stop mould but my concern is that without a concrete slab this part of the house is going to move and the cracks are starting to appear in the bricks as a result of the shift of the ground ontop of sand? Its only the kitchen that was built like this however it is a major concern for me and forcing me to re-think placing a bid for the home. Re: Paved instead of a concrete slab??? 3Apr 16, 2010 8:46 pm Why don't you get some quotes to fix it & use it as leverage off the purchase price? I would look at worse case senario. Quote: I would really need to love the house to take that risk AFAIK, flashing is a minimum standard. Out of curiosity is your window glass stamped with AS requirements in any of the corners of each pane? Im almost certan if theyre… 2 6558 The concreter will take and reuse. In my case I bought structural LVLs and scraped them back and used them as joists. 1 5438 yep, clearly mark where the infloor heating pipes are before drilling or nailing 1 6276 |
