Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Feature wall not or no feature wall??!! 4Jun 30, 2010 3:27 pm Good question. All the home mags im reading at the moment are saying feature walls are definately OUT, but i still think they have their place. I guess the question is - do you want peoples attention to be drawn to your TV as the focal point for the room, cause that's what a feature wall does. Re: Feature wall not or no feature wall??!! 5Jun 30, 2010 5:05 pm I dont want it to be a focus point, but cos the whole house is so stark i thought it would add a bit of 'depth' and thats why i was thinking just a few shades darker? I dont want a different colour but I dont want to do it if you cant even see a difference either. Anyone have pics of their feature walls that are only subtle?? We have Hogs Bristle quarter on our bedroom walls here with a Hogs Bristile full strength feature wall. Even though DH gave it another coat of paint a few weeks back, unless the sun hits it at exactly the right angle, or if the lamp is switched on, you can't tell the difference. I will take a pic tomorrow morning and see how it shows up. Nic. Funny though as the word most people use to describe my home is modern You could try having the same colour, but a use different texture. Most of our feature walls are suede effects paint. I know, suede effects went out 10 years ago but hear me out, I can't help it if the trend was to use it wrong. If you use the same suede colour as the normal paint for the main walls, the feature wall has a beautiful subtle hint of change but doesn't overtake the space and is really pleasing to the eye. The best thing about paint, is that it is so easy to change if you don't like it The unit normally clips into a metal plate screwed to the wall, either plate is not flush, or unit not hooked in and could be hanging from the pipes partly, either might… 2 15800 Thanks for your reply! All valid points and I agree with you on many of them.
