Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation 1 Aug 30, 2008 3:12 pm Does anyone have any experience with double sided gas fireplaces? We are considering replacing an existing wood fireplace with a double sided fireplace - punching out the rear wall of the fireplace to do so. Any advice from anyone who has undertaken such an activity would greatly be apprecited. Re: Two sided Gas Fireplaces 2Aug 30, 2008 8:14 pm Seen them in a display home - looks fantastic! The builder was quoting $15000 for the thing After 4 years - we're in! Re: Two sided Gas Fireplaces 3Aug 30, 2008 11:55 pm We want to do this for an indoor/outdoor fireplace in our lounge/deck. Interested to hear other people's experiences. Re: Two sided Gas Fireplaces 5Sep 04, 2008 3:17 pm I to love the look and we designed a specific place for one in our house plans.
Both wife and I fell in love with the Heat & Glo double sided fire places in the Metricon Bel Air and Latitude display homes. But they wanted $14,000 to $15,000 for it. The builder we have gone with quoted just under $10,000 for the same unit. A fair price considering this included the installation and out at retail the best we could get was $9300 without installation. Then came last weekends home show here in Melbourne. I walked into the Heat & Glo display and said I want to buy this model there and then. I showed a quote for a regency unit (Not even close to the quality, functionality or aesthetics of the Heat & Glo) and said match it and the sale is yours. The lady looked at the price and said she could not. When I pulled out my mobile in front of her and rang the dealer of the other unit she promptly asked me to wait a second while she spoke to someone. To cut the story short 5 minutes later I was the proud owner of the Heat & Glo double sided gas log fire place including the 4 sided facia and all the flue needed in installation for the grand sum of $6700.00. Just $100 more than the regency unit. I am very happy with my purchase and can't wait for the house to be built and that baby fired up! Finally Designing and building the home I always wanted to! d. sided fireplace. 6Mar 02, 2009 2:05 pm I am reading the forum because I need to finalise where my fireplace is going. Yes the quote from the shop I got for see through was about 10k, she talked me out of it. Why heat two rooms inefficiently rather than one properly she said. I am back to my original idea of gas log fire under the T.V. They look top notch and you sound like a really resourceful person. Re: Two sided Gas Fireplaces 7Apr 16, 2009 10:37 pm Regency P121 is a cheaper option for a double sided gas fire, they retail for around $6000, install on these is tricky though so install costs wont be cheap. Looks great though. Dont heat that much of an area, they are more cosmetic as any double sided fire is, too much glass makes them less efficient. Hi mate, we’re going to be another couple of years before we end up building as decided to wait and travels around Oz in our caravan, so sorry can’t you really help… 11 104203 It's a good plan and friction losses are low at low velocity. Positive displacement pumps used as header pumps are simple, reliable, have high lift and work well with… 3 34423 Thanks. At least that clears the air for everyone on that point. 3 9922 |
