Would cabinet makers be happy to do the overhead cabinets above the sink as well? Is it because as a kitchen, my job is too small/incomplete? I wanted to get preliminary contacts because once I get the keys I have to quickly move; I have to do the kitchen before I can do my floor...so was hoping I could go and meet someone before handover. Or am I rushing too much?? I will google cabinet makers as you suggested CuttingEdgeKitchens Its actually a very easy job. I would call cabinet makers instead of kitchen companys. They will be more willing to look/quote the job for you and will be a bit cheaper too. You should need to repaint any walls. Overheads can be added but I would sugest a minimum of 600mm above the bench. Any lower and you will feel boxed in and can easily bump your head. Google cabinet makers and make a few calls. Cabinet makers build kitchens and kitchen cabinets all the time so yes they would be happy to do the overheads aswell! If you give the cabinet maker a rough overall length and height of the overheads/pantry they will be able to quote the job for you. This allows you to compare quotes before wasting time with check measures. Add 1 meter of kicker. Remove the end panel. Put in new pantry. Put the end panel back on. Extend the mdf bulkhead. This is any easy job. Would be good if it could get done before your cornice goes on. Re: Adding kitchen pantry after handover - How do I do it? 9Sep 08, 2012 7:37 am Sonny Not a problem. Add 1 meter of kicker. I tried to find some cabinet makers but didn't get around to going to one--they all shut at noon here. Can anyone recommend a cabinet maker that they know? I am a bit intimidated looking at all the websites with their fancy kitchens! I wonder if the cabinet maker would think mine is too small a job? Re: Adding kitchen pantry after handover - How do I do it? 11Sep 09, 2012 12:25 am I've just added my floor plan, the kitchen can be seen in relation to the rest of the space here: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=59389 Re: Adding kitchen pantry after handover - How do I do it? 12Sep 11, 2012 2:32 pm Also, would anyone know what kind of budget I need to get a pantry plus some overhead cabinets (4 or so) installed? Would I buy a ready-made product to save? Would it be over $2000? Re: Adding kitchen pantry after handover - How do I do it? 13Sep 11, 2012 3:04 pm Yes you would save with a flat pack (ready made) but the quality is terriable compared to a kitchen company or cabinet maker. Price depends on the material used for the doors and the length of the overheads. Without those I would be stabbing in the dark. You are right, flat packs always look like flat packs and it's not something I would enjoy in the long run, although I would buy it for temporary use (in a rental etc). My conclusion is to save up until I can afford a proper cabinet , preferably laminex, and get them installed professionally (one day). I also noticed most people don't have overhead above the sink these days (also because they have much bigger kitchens than mine) and I am starting to think if it feels better without one above the sink...I expect to use the sink a lot because we have no dishwasher. 4 2219 I visited a relatives house and he went with sink in kitchen and butlers, dishwasher in kitchen and butlers and has crockery spread out between the two areas depending on… 2 44707 My open shelf pantry will be similar to below image with window. all appliances like rise cooker, dish washer will be in the… 0 1268 |
