Browse Forums Building A New House Re: LYNDARUM / AURORA ESTATES: Epping, Victoria 2464Apr 10, 2012 10:36 pm Hello Snake I notice that its a joke that traffice light waste so much time, vic roads first of all needs to add extra lanes on that roads, its a complete joke. Im also building in Eucalypt on baltrum drive where abouts are you, what im worried is that with the current conditions its goign to take me ages every morning to get to epping station. Snake have you had any luck with find a interant provider , ive had no luck with anyone, just wireless Re: LYNDARUM / AURORA ESTATES: Epping, Victoria 2465Apr 11, 2012 3:02 pm Hey d3vil_nik, I agree adding an extra lane in each direction would be fantastic but from what everyone else is saying there is nothing in the pipeline for it to happen for quite a few years, which is unfortunate especially considering they have the space there to do it. In the mean time I still think those traffic lights need looking at by someone... I am building in Saltlake Boulevard which is due for release late May; fingers crossed as it has been delayed before. I'm also worried about the traffic in the morning on the way to Epping/Lalor station, hopefully because I leave early in the morning it won’t have built up as much. As for the internet provider, we received a NBN pack that says we will get fibre connected to our home. I'm surprised you didn’t get one as well, I thought all new estates will get fibre installed.. Maybe check with Stockland? I've done research and I found that iiNet has fibre plans that are a pretty good price compared to ADSL2+. Re: LYNDARUM / AURORA ESTATES: Epping, Victoria 2467Apr 11, 2012 8:03 pm hey snake i got it installed in my house but they dont have a date when it will be released they said could be a couple years, until then i need something, is south morang closer or epping station. I rekon they will do it early especially when more people move in Re: LYNDARUM / AURORA ESTATES: Epping, Victoria 2468Apr 11, 2012 9:01 pm dougal_s Snakes As for the internet provider, we received a NBN pack that says we will get fibre connected to our home. Does it say when though? Looking at the NBN Co welcome pack now (which says our home is in a NBN Ready Estate), NBN Co will lay the fiber to the front of the house while the rest of the infrastructure goes in. Then its up to us to organise with the builder to lay fiber from the front of the house to the Network Terminations Device (NTD) which is located in the home. I don't have my building contract handy at the moment but from memory it was a little over $2k. So as far as I know it will be all ready to go for when we move in. d3vil_nik hey snake i got it installed in my house but they dont have a date when it will be released they said could be a couple years, until then i need something, is south morang closer or epping station. I rekon they will do it early especially when more people move in Really a couple of years?? I would call Stockland and check that. Unless your stage was released before NBN Co started laying fiber in all new estates? There is always other options for internet, like wireless - I know its not the fastest but its better then nothing. In fact have a look at this - http://www.adsl2exchanges.com.au/viewex ... hange=WLRT. Apparently you can get Telstra ADSL2+ at the Wollert exchange now. Maybe that is worth investigating as well. 5.7km to Epping Station, 7.4km to South Morang, so Epping is closer. I think South Morang station is almost open, in the next few months I think. Re: LYNDARUM / AURORA ESTATES: Epping, Victoria 2469Apr 11, 2012 9:04 pm i called them all up they told me they need to finish the fiber in my street, so donno how long this will take. I called telstra they said no adsl 2 maybe adsl.i might need to look into this. wireless no good for me as i download way to much lol. hopefully there is more option closer to end of the year. Do you know if there lots parking at epping? LYNDARUM / AURORA ESTATES: Epping, Victoria 2470Apr 12, 2012 7:57 am d3vil_nik Do you know if there lots parking at epping? There's not much parking at Epping, you'd be really pressing your luck trying to park there on the morning. You'd be better off parking at Lalor or South Morang, if I recall correctly they placed about 300 spots at the new station. Re: LYNDARUM / AURORA ESTATES: Epping, Victoria 2471Apr 12, 2012 9:26 pm Guess we have thieves roaming in the our estate. Plants from the front porch gone with pots and trays!! Have construction going on in adjoining plot. Could trades people be responsible?? I am angry.. Heard a lot about home break ins lately. Has anyone experienced or heard about any such event??? Re: LYNDARUM / AURORA ESTATES: Epping, Victoria 2472Apr 12, 2012 10:06 pm persian varta Also is anyone complaining to Council regarding garbage and other dumping in open ground around broadleaf/rockfield.?? Residents have made that area their official dumping ground. It looks disgusting. Its a shame that other Aurora and Lyndarum residents are doing this in their own estate. We are complaining to council on regular basis but empty promises and no work yet.. I guess we are the only one bothered by this. Council asked us to note down number plates and give it to them so they can issue some legal notices and fines. We have formed a small group who are noting all the number plates and about to hand them out to council. I request to all the residents, please don't throw your garbage in common areas. Have some sympathy for people who are living in front of that. You are not alone! I have complained to council as well, initially when we complained the came once to pick a big dump that was placed right next to our house, but I guess they have sort of given up. Just noticed one more old tele yesterday dumped on the nature strip, not to mention the old mattresses on the train corridor. This Sunday night some drunk hoons ran over the street light pole and broke it along with the wire fence, and our nature stip is full of tyre marks. Not very happy with Aurora estate. Will post the pics of pole if I can. Thank god someone is paying attention and taking interest in other issues and not just internet issues. LoL Really disappointing. Garbage dumping, break in in house, really regretting moving in here. As for complains, still sending mails to council every week, nothing yet. Will keep updating here. Re: LYNDARUM / AURORA ESTATES: Epping, Victoria 2473Apr 12, 2012 10:09 pm persian varta Hi Guys I have been reading this forum for sometime now. Moved to Aurora 7 months back. Just wanted to know if any of the residents lodge official complain to VCAT against their builder and does it really help?? We are getting ignored by our builder(TH) for last 7 months. From the day we moved in. He promised to finish little bit of remaining work after we move in and after our numerous calls and emails, we are finally thinking about complaining. Enough is enough. We went to VCAT for about the same issues like a leak in roof and some unfinished work which the builder did not do according to plan. It did help us but make sure you have documentary evidence to prove your point. Take photos of unfinished work etc.etc. I was however surprised that the surveyor, VCAT and the builder reps knew each other very well, just like old mates! Must be meeting very regularly! That's very encouraging. We will be submitting our official complain very soon. May I ask who was your builder?? Re: LYNDARUM / AURORA ESTATES: Epping, Victoria 2474Apr 13, 2012 8:58 am varta Thank god someone is paying attention and taking interest in other issues and not just internet issues. I can understand your frustration. However, no estate is perfect. I bet you will encounter those issues in other areas as well. To resolve those issue depends on the people living in this community imo. Have you been able to submit your complaints/issues to ACA or group with people who are facing the same situation? I think mass awareness and group action might have a quicker and better outcome. Re: LYNDARUM / AURORA ESTATES: Epping, Victoria 2475Apr 13, 2012 6:46 pm Hi all, I've been following this blog ever since we'd signed the Land release form, and after two years of building and construction, we finally moved in December 2011, and since then, everything has been a catastrophe. On the final inspection, the house was in such a poor state- with chipped tiles, no door handles placed on, huge rubbish piles scattered in the garage due to the builders, the heater not being correctly installed, flooding of the shower (with water not going down the drain), and dints/scratched paint on the garage door were just to name a few, in which we had to wait ONE MONTH to have these problems resolved, since the building company had commenced their Christmas break, and were not back 'til late January. A week had passed, and a strange smell was lurking throughout the bedrooms and bathroom area. Outside one of the bedroom window, there is some sort of drain. Out of that drain: sewerage, gunk, and bodily fluids that had ben expelled through the the toilet were all rising out of the drain, in which we had to go to the Plumbing Industry Commission. .....And these problems were just some of the entire list. I'm really disappointed with the estate. They (or whoever) just spend the Tax Payer's money on making pretty parks, when in fact we need the basic necessities, with phone and internet being readily available when you move in (Not waiting a whole month. Don't even get me started on the FTTH Box in the garage!), wider roads, adequate weeding, and the urgent need for public transport. My house is already isolated enough, with a inadequate walking distance to the local shops, it just adds fuel to the fire. But that's just my opinion, and opinions are subjective. Just need a place to vent lol. I don't think the parks were built using tax payer's money, it's from the developer's profits. The council only starts maintaining them after it's handed over to them by VU. In addition, aren't more parks better? I do agree the public transport is also a major issue. But we all know no bus company will want to go though areas with less or little bus users because it won't simply make them any money. I sympathise your situation and I don't intend to upset you, but I just want to set things straight. Re: LYNDARUM / AURORA ESTATES: Epping, Victoria 2477Apr 13, 2012 9:31 pm Rio15 Hi all, . As for the parks, not sure what you are concerned about. The parks are one of the reasons we chose to build here and with a 3 year old it has been fantastic to have a couple within walking distance. I also think there is nothing nicer than being able to see some greenery. Public transport; I agree that it could be better. In fact a lot better. However we came into it with our eyes open and were well aware that this was the case. I am surprised that you did not do your homework before signing up. Again, not being critical of you and like you said it is an opinion but I guess I am just trying point out some of the positives. Best of luck with everything. I would hate to see it in the morning peak for people travelling south. Yes, Epping Road travelling southbound in the morning peak is pretty bad at times. I drive my kids to school in Mernda and then to get to work far south of the CBD I travel along Craigieburn Road. If I had to drive southbound into Epping I'd turn right at Harvest Home Road adn then cut through the estate, back up to the Findon Rd roundabout and would avoid Miller St at all costs too. Some good news: Got my first Whittlesea Leader delivered last week. Bad news: Saw that a man was airlifted to the Alfred in a critical condition the other morning driving along Epping Road. That intersection at Craigieburn Road is a death waiting to happen. Rio - sorry to hear about your building woes. We're still fighting our builder on heating issues. All Aurora homes must have at least 5 star rated ducted heating and ours is 3 star. Just one of our whinges. Your problems sound a lot worse though. Hope they get sorted soon. Just re the comment that the developer pays for the parks and not our taxes, well, it is a Vic govt estate so when it boils down to it it is our taxes paying for the parks around here at least. Re: LYNDARUM / AURORA ESTATES: Epping, Victoria 2479Apr 14, 2012 12:47 am R.E: aurorafrog / Moving2Epping Thank you for your sympathy. It's been 4 months and the problems are still not resolved to an adequate stage, but are getting there. It's not the parks I have a problem with, since I live 5-10 metres away from one (A main contributing factor), plus it's a great stress realiver from work and life, to walk the dog and go out with the family through lush green land, but parks should not be our Number 1, first priority. There are more crucial aspects that need to be more focused on. The Edgars Rd extension is utterly crucial! Main reasons for buying into Aurora was the reassurance of living with 200m (Or 500m?) within a bus stop. Fortunately, I'm only a 1 minute from the local bus stop, or shelter should I say. Too bad there's no bus service. It's ironic- there's commuters standing in the harsh rain, or being scorched by the hot sun along the 575 bus services with no shelter, yet there's empty, fully equipped bus shelters collecting dust in our estate. The internet is a great infrastructure with its high speeds, but we've had two cases in which we've ben without the internet, with the FTTH technician having to come out two days later (after being hassled) to just restart the router - a 20 second job, in which I had to still continue to pay for the internet service, and which someone had to be home, away from work, just to open up the garage door, all because us residents don't have access to the FTTH box. A twenty second task then became a two day situation. Also, Iprimus bartered with us when we attempted to cancel our contract. We now have 200gb, plus unlimited Phone AND mobile, for $89.95 which is great!! Took some time, made a little noise, but had a great outcome. I'm have concern saying the builders name on here, as legal strife may erupt, for tarnishing their business reputation, etc. But I want to give a warning to future residents. Here's a clue: The first syllable coincides with clocks and measure of time. Oztish: Sorry for your problems. If you need them to pull up their socks, just threaten to take them Consumer Affairs or VCAT, hopefully it should work. All the best! It's a great occasion to meet your fellow residents and talk about the FTTH issue (as far as I know, it's been a major topics in the past few coffee chats). In addition, you will have a chance to talk to VU representative face to face. Have a visit to the ACA website and it's forum (http://www.aurora.asn.au) and sign up to their newsletter if you haven't done so. It'll keep you informed and updated for what's happening in Aurora right now. I think some resident are taking FTTH issue up to VCAT.
