Hi,
I thought I might start my own little log of the building process, nothing will be happening until 2012 except my list of colour choices
The house is to be built by Bafto Homes, a custom builder in the Lynbrook area. The same company has also drawn the plans to match the block (18.5m * 28m).
The house build includes quite a few customisations, I've put a * against them to show upgrades.
The build timeline
So the build will start in early-February 2012, with the slab been down around the 20th February.
The expected build date is expected to complete by June 2012 in the worst-case...(not including the items I removed from the build)
The basics
A 24.3 square single storey brick house with double garage.
Ecoclassic aluminum windows*
Colourbond metal roof*
Double garage with a panel lift door*, and a rear roller door to allow access to the back of the house.
Caesar stone benchtop's in the kitchen*
Laminate benchtops in the bathroom
Lamipanel for the kitchen/bathroom cupboards
Bonaire 4.0 (standard is 3.0) ducted heating unit and Bonaire Integra evaporative cooling with the H20* optimiser.
S-class slab
Exposed aggregate driveway
Wall-flush toilets*
Stack stone cladding at the front of the house (two pillars)*
The alfresco area will have in-fill paving concrete.
Front door model - XN5, deadlock*
Solid door with lock between garage & house*
Draft stopper on door between garage and house*
Vinyl sliding robe doors
An outdoor powerpoint in the alfresco
Outdoor water tap in alfresco and (LHS) side* of house (not shown on plans here, RHS of alfresco).
Downlights throughout excluding bedrooms. EDIT: All downlights removed due to Downlight disadvantages - Insulation June 2012
Outdoor gas point* (not shown on plan, RHS of alfresco)
Skirting boards to wet areas* (6/04/12)
Double light switch in garage (near house enterance and near front door)* (6/04/12)
External lights on garge brickwork (up/down lights)* (6/04/12)
Rear ag drain at the back of the dwelling to prevent any kind of water coming into the house area* (6/04/12)
Toilets upgraded to Mondo Rococo* (6/04/12)
Energy efficiency / noise reduction
7.2 star energy efficiency this included R4.0* batts in the ceiling and standard R2.5 in the walls.
Acoustic batts and sound-stop plasterboard between the family room and master bedroom.*
Acoustic batts between bedrooms 2 & 3, and bedrooms 3 & study.*
Ecoclassic double glazed aluminium windows*
Items to be done post-handover (removed from the build)
All flooring
Kitchen splashback
Covering for the walls in the shower. EDIT: This was re-added to the build as a tiling variation. Alternative wall coverings are either not as nice or too expesnsive.
Lighting - the places where I removed downlights I will have an electrical point but no light fitting. I have to purchase and organise the fitting of the lights, and the external garage lights.

Planned Items
There are a number of planned items I'd like to do
From the Garage floor covering thread I'd like to use some kind of coating on the garage floor.
Buy flyscreen windows from CDK Screens
Get a toughened glass kitchen splashback - JSAGlass advertise on Ebay for $350/m^2. Advice on colour is welcome
Get a shower panel from http://naturastonecomau.melbourneitwebs ... index.html <-- this was quoted around $5000 dollars. I found cheaper panels such as laminex aqua panel, they are cheap but no one will install them except a handy man and they don't look that nie. I went back to using tiles as a variation.
Organise some blinds, I've found a number of suppliers on this forum in Victoria.
Buy the carpet floor coverings, the two main vendors I've found are McMats and Western Distibutors
But Vinyl Planks, my current choice of vendor is Serfloor, I still need to find an installer for the vinyl flooring <-- installer has been found as per this thread
In-wall / ceiling speakers & structured cabling throughout the house through HomeGuard Security Victoria (extremely cheap for cat 6 cabling) - now known as Unify AV Systems
Misc Items
The colourbond rear fence was done by Costas fencing, they quoted $1200 for 18.5m, the job looks quite good compared to next doors fence.
I have been attempting to purchase all items in advance and have chosen most of my whitegoods by now
