Its going where the recess is between the living and media rooms, with it facing the living room. We dont have openings wither side as we moved the media room entrance to be double cavity doors off the entrance. As we are having raked ceilings in the living and meals, Im not into having a flu running up to the ceiling and having it built in with recesses either side will (hopefully) look awesome. It has been a drama and a half though. As for the rest, I dont even want to go there. The whole sandpad fiasco came back and we were again looking at an 1.1mt sand pad. Plus, the added drama that we were advised from the pre start lady that to move our septics (which the position was not yet confirmed by us and which we wouldn neve have confirmed because where they are meant we cant actually fit a shed or water tank on defeating the need for septics!!!) we would have to reapply to shire, water corp and health dept. I spoke to all 3 departments who dont even have an application in so the drama was completely unneccessary and frustrating. She's still on about it and I just cant be bothered dealing with her any more. Our fantastic sales guy sorted it so Im not even going to bother with what she says about it. Ill just be glad when final plans are in and we wont have to deal with her ever again. So thats where we are at. Waiting for final plans, then we can get unconditional approval with the final costings with the bank then apply for a building licence for our earthworks guy (who is also doing the tank and septics) and then book it in. Builder say pad should be down end of feb. We'll see.... can someone lend me a wall- so i can bash my head against it 47Dec 29, 2011 7:33 pm the pre start lady is annoying me- yet again. On the 23rd we got all excited about a package from the builder which we though would be our final plans. well they were plans and a variation (cost of course) for the amended plan to be submitted to the shire but the plans are exactly the same plans we have had for months- no pre start changes at all. I dont see why we should be asked to pay seeing as they submitted the plans without our approval and with a list of items which would need to be changed prior to shire approval). I rang to find out what the go is but of course- they are closed until 9th Jan. Perfect. plus i got an email from pre start chick that day asking if the list of pre start stuff was everything. Id already written her an email a couple of weeks ago pointing out what was needed to be added so I guess I have to do that again. We were hoping (and clearly extrememly naive going through a builder you tell them what changes you want and they build it because that is what they are getting huge bucks to do. i didnt realise you'd have to hold their hands every step of the way. I can see Im going to be what I really dont want to be- a pain the a** of a customer and ride their a**es like zorro every step of this build. Re: and so it begins... 48Dec 29, 2011 8:03 pm JuJu....sorry to say but with some builders that's exactly what you have to do and even then they still can't get it right!!! Just recently I lost 2/3 of the watr from the rainwater tank because the @#$%^& plumber didn't tighten the tank fittings and when the Rheem man was here doing a warranty call on the HWS (located near the rainwater tank) he bumped the tank fitting with his boot, the fitting fell out and whoosh went most of the water!! The builder totally ignores any calls/emails/etc and I don't have the plumbers phone number...not that he'd come back and do work without authorisation from the builder so it's a Catch 22 situation and much easier to fix it myself. It was 'really, really' hard!!!! (can you hear the sarcasm?) I had to wind pipe tape around a pipe fitting and screw it into another inline fitting, tight enough so it didn't leak...not just two turns as the plumber had done!!! Oh, he had also cross threaded it in those two turns!!! Duh!!! Some people shouldn't be allowed to charge for the 'work' they do...they should pay you!!! Hey, no probs being thought of as a pita customer...who cares what they think because I can bet you anything you like you will think less of them, than they of you for being so unprofessional. Customer service and satisfaction has gone out the window, they don't care!!! Re: and so it begins... 49Jan 09, 2012 12:10 pm Bugger,i've said that on 2 forums now. Keep on at them,it took afew times to get something right in our plans, but thats all i really could complain about sofar. Hope things get sorted. Block bought 1st RBC X! 2nd Ventrua,Keeper! They should reimburse you for the water seeing as its their stuff up. That is disgraceful. Do they not think with this day and age customer service would be better not worse, seeing as word of mouth is now done over the internet? We're still waiting on a response from the builder. I said to Dh that I cant wait for the hosue to be finished. He said he jsut cant wait for the damn thing to be started. I really hope we're in by christmas. We signed up with them 6 months ago and still have the same set of plans. You'd think they would want to make some money but they seem to be happy taking their sweet merry time. I have wondered (more than once) if anyone other than the sales guy knows what they are actually doing. Re: and so it begins... 51Jan 10, 2012 5:39 pm JuJu I wasn't concerned too much about the loss of water because living on the coast means it rains quite often and the tank has been filled and overflowing several times since then...but, if I lived in a dry region, the loss of water would have been a totally different story because I've also lived where we were totally reliant on rainwater for 'everything'. I don't think anyone cares about customer service anymore and as you've said, it should be better as it's much easier for us to make our feelings known online. Have you looked at your contract to check what the starting time should be? Six months with no movement is just not on, imho!! Makes you wonder what 'their' quality of work will be like and how long it will take to build your house? Surely you will be in long before next Xmas??? Feel so sorry for you. Re: and so it begins... 52Feb 05, 2012 1:16 pm I would cry at that loss of water as we will be living off our rainwater tank happycamper!!! I think it has 45 days to start time but I think that is from the date the final plans are signed off- which we are STILL waiting for. I ended up having a bit of a go at the prestart lady and I told her it wasnt too late for us to pull out of the build- which we have done with another builder- and all has been good since then. Emails and explainations of whats going on which I think should be done automatically not because there is a complaint. So it is a waiting game for the final plans. We finally sold our house which is one hassel gone. Thankfully we have a rental tee-d up through our neighbour so thats yet another hassel gone. Im hoping this week the final plans come and then we can get the ball really rolling. Re: and so it begins... 53Feb 06, 2012 1:15 pm Hey JuJuB I was just wondering how you were going the other day, so it was great to see you on the forum. Best to delay the surgery to remove the ruler from your hand if you are yet to receive final plans. We got our slab down just before xmas, and the brickies started two weeks ago , i have been told the brickies will take 4 weeks, the house looks fab already, all very exciting, you don't mind the wait so much when something is happening. So far the builders have been great, all our problems have been with the council. Omg our garage is huge, yours will be massive. Hope all runs smoothly for you guys and your earthworks start real soon. Re: and so it begins... 54Feb 06, 2012 4:11 pm Thats it,get onto them, get them into your way of thinking & DOING AS THEIR TOLD Fab about the house sale, good luck with the rental.
