Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry Re: Bathroom accessories - is it worth paying more? 6Apr 12, 2011 10:42 am Only thing we upgraded was the soap dish (I mean who uses an actual bar of soap anymore?) Got a flat ledge/shelf instead and got it the same width as the tiles (300mm) instead of the 200mm it was. Re: Bathroom accessories - is it worth paying more? 7Apr 12, 2011 11:02 am we use cheap fittings in our rentals. i always throw out the fixings it comes with and grab some spring or gravity toggles. If they come off the wall the tenant has a lot of explaining to do/bond money to pay. The be honest the biggest difference i have noticed between cheap and expensive is the amount of thought that goes into the mount, the more expensive ones tend to be easier to put up and have greater tollerances to cover screw holes through their design. Otherwise the tenants haven't seem to break the holders yet. Re: Bathroom accessories - is it worth paying more? 8Mar 17, 2020 12:12 am A balance has to be found between quality and price. Very cheap products will definitely not serve you long, they are made of poor quality material and can quickly crumble. Look for bathroom accessories online, I'm sure you'll find something at a good price and of sufficient quality. Re: Bathroom accessories - is it worth paying more? 9Mar 26, 2020 1:51 am Has not been the case with me. If I find a style I like that is expensive I just scour the Internet for more options - I'm likely to find a more reasonably priced item that is in line with my aesthetic and could probably be durable. Re: Bathroom accessories - is it worth paying more? 10Mar 27, 2020 7:54 pm I actually invested quite a lot on these, didn't want to cheap out and regret it later. And my experience has been nothing but great, while online and speaking with friends, I did hear a lot of people complaining about fixtures that simply fall down or crack, and so on. So, if I were you, I'd spend the extra cash. Worth it in the long run. Re: Bathroom accessories - is it worth paying more? 11Jul 07, 2020 1:42 pm sandra77 Well we spent $12.50 on a toilet roll holder that looks nice but after a few months it constantly falls off the wall because the screw that holds it there is so *******. Wish we hadnt been such tighties. Sandra Get a better screw. Problem solved. Re: Bathroom accessories - is it worth paying more? 12Aug 11, 2020 6:21 am I work in Hardware and can tell you that price doesn't mean quality. Just go with what you like, and almost all fittings come with crap fixtures. Get some good anchors and screws and they'll never come off.
