To be honest, I'm happy to be a nightmare client if its going to produce results and get this house finished to a good standard. It shouldnt need to come to that. I have also had some good discussions with PD management and feel confident that things are going to be sorted out. I would guess it must be a difficult job at times as he is responsible for others work and being let down by tradies. I think the problem is they are expecting the sub contractors to do a proper job without being supervised. I was lucky enough that my SS got good subbies working for him, especially the brickies. He told me that they have to share subbies & sometimes it's hard to get the people they want. __________________________________________ Built Camberwell 29 with PD - Hand Over was on 22/12/10 http://ssazcamberwell29.blogspot.com/ Re: Porter Davis homes 1252Feb 28, 2011 2:50 pm Lunchtime I have just had a good discussion with my SS. They should have more quality control and more SS's if that will resolve their issues, PD's prices are at a premium so their workmainship should reflect that! Waiting for it to begin. Am so excited, not looking forward to having to check everything constantly though! I'm hoping that my ss is onto everything! I've actually been waiting for a phone call though for them to introduce themselves! Any of you building in the northern suburbs? Mel Re: Porter Davis homes 1254Feb 28, 2011 7:42 pm Mel, don't wait, call your CSC and get your name & number of your SS, and call him yourself. I did that. Don't be scared, just keep a close eye on stuff, it's your house after all. Our PCI is scheduled for tomorrow, i'm a bit antsy. Drove past today, garage door is not on, entry doors not painted and an external inspection on Sunday I picked up about 14 points to be sorted. Is the expectation that the house is complete at PCI or is supposed to be complete at handover? Advice, please. Hi Karmaz, My understanding is they should have completed the house by PCI & they only need to rectify whatever defects listed during the PCI during the 2 weeks period between PCI & Handover. __________________________________________ Built Camberwell 29 with PD - Hand Over was on 22/12/10 http://ssazcamberwell29.blogspot.com/ Re: Porter Davis homes 1256Feb 28, 2011 8:14 pm Thanks SSAZ, I think I will call our SS tomorrow and confirm that all the work is done before I complete a PCI. Found a fantastic a PCI checklist, here's the link http://www.anew house.com.au. Comprehensive indeed, now to get the printers working. Re: Porter Davis homes 1257Feb 28, 2011 8:20 pm Hi karmaz, I have his name & number Will give him a call tomorrow. Thks for the advice. Mel Re: Porter Davis homes 1258Feb 28, 2011 8:47 pm Mel, dont be too scared - just make sure you set the expectation from the beginning. My issues are more indicitave of the building industry than PD. Everything is peared down to generate as much profit as possible and while my SS has been getting pressure from me, you can bet he has also been getting pressure from his managers to make sure the house is delivered under budget and for the highest profit. However, my issue with this is that PD promote themselves as a smaller volume builder and my sales rep said that they want to keep it this way as it allows them to focus on quality which I believe I have paid a premium for. There is always a gap between what was sold and the actual product. You have to determine what you find acceptable and push if it isnt Re: Porter Davis homes 1259Feb 28, 2011 9:15 pm Thanks guys, will be keeping everyone posted on what happens during my build I will be sure to be clear if I'm not happy & due to living 5 mins from my site I will be constantly checking on everything.
