Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Somerfield Estate Keysborough 1325Feb 22, 2011 1:41 pm We are disappointed, DAP knocked us back because our front portico pillar was not right and they wanted more detail on our front profiles. So back to having plans drawn up again and the forwarded to DAP again - this will be about a 3 weeks delay for us, not terribly happy about this. What annoys you is that your builder cannot talk to these people and they do not get back to you when you email They will be happy for every home to look the same Re: Somerfield Estate Keysborough 1326Feb 22, 2011 11:29 pm Hi everybody, Has anyone here bought in stages 10-14? We bought in stage 11 and are wondering if anyone has had any updates regarding our land titling. Initially we were told April but last I heard they were saying June. Re: Somerfield Estate Keysborough 1327Feb 23, 2011 4:18 pm Hi. Yes stages 10 and 11 have been delayed until June 2011 for settlement, stage 10 was supposed to be March and 11 was originally April. So fingers crossed there aren't too many more delays. Looking forward to starting the building process, been a long wait. Thanks in advnce. Adam Hi Adam, The estate is a Telstra Smart Community. I.e. Telstra has laid fiber optic cable, not copper. They don't wholesale their fiber, so yes Telstra is the only Choice for a wired phone / internet connection. You cannot get ADSL as there is no copper. In saying that, Telstra is currently in negotiations / voting to sell their fiber to NBNco. Its probably a couple of years off, but eventually we should just be patched to the NBN, and then you will be able to choose any ISP (will actually be known as an RSP (Retail service provider)). In the mean time, either sign up with Telstra (you should get $1500 credit), or go wireless. As a side note, your Free to Air TV is also supplied over this fiber optic cable ( no need for an antenna). I have spoken to Telstra myself, and have been told that if I don't want any paid services (Phone, internet, Pay TV) then they will come out and hook up the fiber for the Free to Air TV for no cost. Hope that helps, Milesy. PS. I don't have anything to do with the estate or Telstra etc. I'm just a nerd. A lot of those Covenants are put in place at the time the Developers are still involved and marketing a certain look and they get ignored or expire after a time. If the… 1 3167 |
