Mushrooms on ez turf 3Feb 18, 2011 11:45 pm You'd be crazy to get rid of them either way. They are there because an imbalance is there in the soils health. By killing off the fungus you need to kill much of the soils living organisms and it is those organisms that are essential for productive growth with minimal fuss. Over all an excess of nitrogen often from fertilizers, lawn starters, and chook poo in lawn soils and mushroom composts kick on the fungal presence. Re: Mushrooms on ez turf 6Feb 21, 2011 9:13 am the brown colour mushrooms in my yard last for a day or two than die off, but I have a thick layer of green mulch on my garden beds and when it rains sometimes there is a yellowish -orange colour mushroom, (I hope it is a mushroom), it's not the umbrella shaped mushroom but looks more like blob of fungus. I put a stick in it once and it was all gooie , That last a little longer.
