Congrats on moving in sarah!! Yeah bring on the new train station! Congrats Mark&Liz! Hope you get to move in just before xmas, what a present that would be! Got anymore news on your dates wizard? hope it's still the 22nd and you can all spend xmas in the new place. One day we'll meet up! Not sure what's happening in the park but it's nice to see some action. Hoping there's a post box going in as there's not too many in the area, just one at the post office in the mall which i couldn't post a letter last night! Bloody annoying! So will be in touch with the post office asap. Hoping they just haven't updated their website post box search page! Sorry know nothing about iphone, still using stone tablets, hehe! Have heard that Sayers rd will be a 6 lane highway in time, anyone else heard this? Better go, have to take my son back to the dentist as his superhero stunt went horribly wrong and he rearranged his front teeth! Oh the fun! Re: Reflections Estate Tarneit – Calling all Reflectors 429Dec 17, 2010 8:39 pm Hi reflectors, Sorry it's been really long since I posted on this forum. First of all, congrats to all who have already moved into reflections estate and good luck for people with their house under construction. Mine is 60-70% complete and am building @ Inverell parkway. It's been a sea change since I first saw the estate. very excited to move in. Can people share their experiences with their blinds & curtains selection and some of the good shops to browse. Any suggestions on reasonable priced blinds and the service that was offered. Have a great weekend. Many thanks, Sundar. Re: Reflections Estate Tarneit – Calling all Reflectors 430Dec 20, 2010 8:47 am Not long now at all liebenswert. We used the blinds warehouse an online company and they were brilliant. We put then up ourselves which was pretty easy. We looked at others but their quotes were up near $10,000 but with this company we did it for a quarter of that price and it's the same product! We did also notice that buying ready mades and having them cut was cheaper again than having them made to order We did use a panel blind from Freedom furniture for our big sliding door, got it in their sale last January so check out all the January sales. Merry Xmas everyone! Re: Reflections Estate Tarneit – Calling all Reflectors 431Jan 14, 2011 5:37 pm Thanks guys ! really helpful... my house is currently @ completion and looks like it will be complete mid feb... excited and nervous about the mortgage ! phew .! Re: Reflections Estate Tarneit – Calling all Reflectors 432Jan 15, 2011 4:53 pm Inverell parkway : 15 houses vandalized... I went to the site today and I was pretty shocked to notice that the house has been vandalized...the living room, bedroom and home theatre windows are smashed to pieces and also the main door was broken...then i noticed walking past the other houses that around 15 houses in the same street has been vandalized....I saw a cop patroling the street and spoke to him and he mentioned that he got a complaint about this and later he went to many houses and took photographs of the breakage...this is really bad and then the cop responded to me saying "this is tarneit, what do you expect"...am still in a shock...reflections people ..does this happen during contrstuction??? and can any1 pass their views on this and the safety of the estate.... worried........ Re: Reflections Estate Tarneit – Calling all Reflectors 433Jan 15, 2011 5:38 pm I went to inspect our house today as well and was shocked to see the vandalism that had happened. The front door was smashed open and the walls were destroyed. Even the electrical points were tampered. I was really disturbed as the house is near its completion. This happened once before as well but at that time it was just that a window pane was broken by a brick. I contacted my site manager to make sure that the builder is aware of the damage. I realised that a couple of houses were damaged as well. I just hope that this is not repeated in future. Really don't know why people do such weird things Re: Reflections Estate Tarneit – Calling all Reflectors 434Jan 15, 2011 6:49 pm @above.. ditto..once during x-mas break they broke my kitchen window with a brick..and now this !!! which street is ur house in? am thinking if it's safe to move in after completion? Reflections Estate Tarneit – Calling all Reflectors 435Jan 15, 2011 7:27 pm I agree with the cop. New area, but far too many rentals and theyre renting them all out to ferals. Cheap area to live = Bronx. No house pride around there, you just have to open your eyes. Sorry but it's the truth. Re: Reflections Estate Tarneit – Calling all Reflectors 436Jan 15, 2011 9:32 pm i sincerely hope that once people move into their house this kind of activity stops.. Re: Reflections Estate Tarneit – Calling all Reflectors 437Jan 16, 2011 5:52 pm I am in Inverell Parkway. I was expecting that the house should be done in the next month. but really concerned about moving now. Don't know what next to expect. Really disappointed with incident. I would like to know if other houses in Inverell parkway which are already occupied, also faced such problems? Re: Reflections Estate Tarneit – Calling all Reflectors 438Jan 17, 2011 7:29 am Just wanted to post a comment regarding the vandalism, those who are concerned about safety after moving in, don’t be. Just a few things to keep in mind: In new estates there is a lot of construction happening at the same time, kids love going through the sites and they love to smash windows and vandalise stuff. I guarantee that most of the damage that takes place in ALL new estates is from stupid kids having fun. I don’t excuse this behavior at all, if it was my kid, I’d cut their hands off, but kids do stupid things, especially when they are in groups. Secondly, most of the theft is done by the actual contractors working on the houses. When our neighbor was building their house, they had all their floor tile stolen, the people that took the tiles removed the roof tiles directly above the manhole and then just went out the side door. How do you think they knew which roof tiles to remove? Because they had been in the house. We had stuff stolen, even caught people trespassing on our property mid build and this is the risk you take on when deciding to build. This sort of stuff costs builders big bucks every year and at the end of the day, they are the ones that have to fix it. The damage is only temporary, it will get fixed, but unless you can keep an eye on your property 24 hours a day, there is nothing you can do. Things happen when there is no one living in an area with so many houses under construction, once people start to move in though, it stops. We have been in our house for nearly 2 months and have had absolutely no problems, and those that we speak to around us are the same. Yes it is shattering to see this happen to your home, but don’t let it discourage you, Reflections is a great estate and the people living there all want the same security and community feel that you do. Regarding the comments of the Police officer, "this is Tarneit, what do you expect", yes we are in the western suburbs, there are a lot of rentals around, but the good thing about Reflections is that only a few houses are for rentals, out of the 30 something in our street, there are 5 rentals, ok, I’d prefer no rentals, but that’s not too bad. The street we moved from (in Truganina) had at least 95% rentals in it and yes it was an ugly street. However, the blocks were also smaller (so the houses were cramped together), there was no covenants to say what can and can’t be built (unlike Reflections where you need to meet certain requirements). All this adds up to a much nicer area. *MrsG* I agree with the cop. New area, but far too many rentals and theyre renting them all out to ferals. Cheap area to live = Bronx. No house pride around there, you just have to open your eyes. Sorry but it's the truth. This is true for some areas in Tarneit, but where we are, almost every house has nice gardens and they are well maintained. I agree, plenty of rentals = no maintenance of lawns etc which makes the place look ugly (like where we moved from) but there is none of that in Reflections I wouldn’t be worried about the security of your investment, once the houses are all built and the streets are full of families, you will feel safe. The only thing that I question is what the area will look like in 5 to 10 years, lets just hope that everyone continues to take pride in their homes. Re: Reflections Estate Tarneit – Calling all Reflectors 440Jan 17, 2011 7:32 pm Sorry to hear you guys have been vandalised, an all too common thing! And it happens on building sites everywhere, even in the most expensive suburbs! So i also wanted to let you know that the area is safe and full of families and friendly smiley faces!
