Re: Building with Big M in Marriott Waters - We have keys!!! 153Aug 25, 2010 9:55 am Since my last post, we are finally making good progress. After months of shopping around and swapping and changing, we finally choose what tile we are going to use throughout the living areas. Due to the amount we require there is a 6-8 week wait. I’ll try post a picture on my blog in the coming days. I just have to figure out how to get it from my phone to the computer. The fence it getting started today with the street side and back fence going up as our neighbour still isn’t ready to go ahead with the other side fence. Laundry cupboard and WIR booked in. I’ve been around Melbourne going to dealers to look for Heating and Add-on cooling. We are looking to keep both heater and cooling to the same brand. This limits us to either; Brivs Lennox Bonaire Each brand has it pros and cons; we’re steering towards the Bonaire due to the fact that the cooling component has inverter technology which saves on running costs. Does anyone have any of these brands? Re: Building with Big M in Marriott Waters - We have keys!!! 155Aug 31, 2010 8:15 am We went with Bonaire for both heating and cooling and just purchased a 5 star heater and 18kw inverter add-on cooling, which will be released onto the market in October. Which my partner and I are happy to wait for the cooling as there isn't much need for it now. We finally had the a fence built around the block, it now shows a true indication on how much space we have in our backyard. Hopefully the weather starts in improve in the coming weeks and drys things up, so I can make a start on the back and front garden. At the current moment it's just a mud bath and it sticks to your shoes and we have tradies going in and out of the house........ In the last two days I did more back breaking work and covered the backyard with 6 cubic meters of crushed rocked and 2 cubic meters of aggregate, I'm preparing the base for the concrete and also installed aggi pipes for the grass area, so hopefully next winter I won’t have a swimming pool in the backyard. No more sticky muddy backyard Last week the renderers came and made a start on the front elevation of the house, hopefully in the coming weeks when the weather clears up they can come out and put on the final colour coating on. Today I received a phone call from the tile place letting me know that the tiles should be ready for pick up by the end of October. So I’m looking at after Cup week for my tiles to be laid. In that time I’m hoping the A/C would have arrived and installed, electrician has come and done all the extra electrical work and lighting and the front and back gardens all done and maybe have the carpet and curtains booked in for installation. Received good news last Friday from the tile place, letting us know that our tiles had arrived and they will be delivered today, the week earlier they were saying another 2 more weeks due to shipping delays. Rang the tiler yesterday and he was saying he can start on our house as early as next week, maybe Monday or Wednesday. All electrical, lighting and home security are now done, except the wiring for the entertainment unit. Alfresco and adjoining entertainment area concreted, will tile the whole area earlier next year. Still waiting for the Heater place to get back to me on when the add-on cooling unit will be ready for installation as they told me it would be released in early October when I brought the unit back in August . Driveway should be done in the coming weeks as we’ve chosen the exposed concrete we want, just going change the design of the driveway, so it can accommodate to cars be parked side by side. Have some internal walls to paint, some are feature walls and some are just scuffed from the tradies and need repainting . This leaves now just the external part of the house to be completed. This wet weather doesn’t help me; it’s delayed me by 3 weeks. Murphy’s Law when I’m at work the sunshines and when I'm free or have days off work it rains . Hoping to have all concreting jobs completed before Xmas . Managed to get the driveway done before Xmas, which means all concreting is now done. Back garden all boxed up and filled with Top Soil, just need to buy instant turf!!! Any ideas on what turf to get?? Been thinking Sir Walters Soft Leave Baffalo Mini Skip comes this week, big clean up at the front of the house which means I could make a start on the front garden sometime soon!!! Does anyone know where I can get large greyish river rocks, I've only seen brown river rock and there fairly common, with most people having them in there gardens?
