Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 123Jul 27, 2010 4:43 pm Hey all, good to see lots of progress happening. Just to catch up, 140 days for us, so it seems to be in line with everyone else. We hit a snag yesterday. Was checking the electricals for some additional work and discovered that the aircon that was supplied (3 phase) won't work, as we only have single phase supply in the street. Bugger! My fault for not checking the street supply as the site has been cabled for 3 phase (and reported as such by the sparkies on site). So, having to go through a few hoops and work out how much a replacement will be. So, for everyone/anyone with a 3 phase aircon in the contract, check the street supply with the provider (like it says in the contract ...). Other than that, we are close now. Site super will be ringing later in the week for a walk through....excitement levels rising! Building the Bronte Manor in Lake Macquarie Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 124Jul 27, 2010 8:50 pm The front porch is now almost fully bricked and we finally have an idea of how our colour choices actually look together. Danana - I've added more pics on my blog if you want to see. Xiphias - Pity about the 3 phase power thing. I hope you sort it out soon. Jennie - How exciting to be getting a walk through soon! I've just been looking at your photos the house is looking great. The parklane design can be found by going to the Kellyville display homes and downloading the brochure. We have visited so many MJH display homes, Kellyville, Oran Park, Fern Bay, Gillieston Heights, Warnervale lol and they all look fantastic. But we wanted another drive thru garage and the parklane was the best fit for our block. They wondered why the heck I was calling because "Why wouldn't you have it?". Bizze - thanks for the lead, I will check out the Kellyville site soon. Jen Building Bordeaux 13m Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 126Jul 28, 2010 4:13 pm Jennie_ Bizze - thanks for the lead, I will check out the Kellyville site soon. I had a moment with the tiles - I instantly thought the floor tiles weren't what I picked and the SS had to make calls to Earps to check they were correct. I was adamant they weren't the right ones and lost a bit of sleep over it. I went the next day again after the decorative tiles arrived (they didn't come with the others) and as soon as I saw them I realised that it was me who had screwed up. At selections I was dithering between two sets of tile schemes and I remembered the wrong one. Heck, I picked those tiles last October, over 6 months ago!! That reminds me, I must ring the SS and apologise. Our tiler was a fantastic guy and could talk the leg off a chair lol. He let me in again to take some photos because the benchtop had only been installed that morning. I have put more pics up for those interested. Jen We picked the same tiles as you, not what I remember from our selections either. I thought they were more grey looking. but close enough haha. I kept telling the SS that it was more milk and water than Iced Coffee lol. I just know that when we looked, it all matched, and all looked fantastic, so thats what we should end up with! Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 129Jul 29, 2010 6:39 pm Well YAY I can report some progress on my build I went for a drive past this morning and we now have a building pad (and a MJH sign). I think it must have been done in the early hours this moring because it poored rain yesterday. And the pad is no small task ... our block is on a big slope and they must have trucked in tonnes and tonnes of dirt. I will take a photo and post tomorrow (it will be my first photo so fingers crossed) and I should probably start my own thread too. I am sooo excited to see what comes next Bizzie & Jennie, both places are flying along and look great. Keep posting those photos! X69, that sounds really odd about your power. I hope you get it sorted soon. When I rang to ask my energy provider made out like I was nuts for asking as if 3 phase is standard. I hope this is right. That seems quite a lot, do you have huge site costs??? Our colour selections cost us another $25k, but i'm suspecting what we got at colour's you may have included in your tender/quote. Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 135Jul 30, 2010 8:32 pm Well, the aircon is sorted, but it has meant another $4k to be forked over. And that's the good part. I rang Energy Aus who told me, yes it is a straight forward procedure to get a 3 phase supply. Just submit a planning form and they will assess the need, but if you want it right now, then I would be paying for the street upgrade, an approx cost of $300k!!!!!!!!!!!!! After that, the $4k for a single phase aircon unit looked very cheap! Other than that, small steps right now. Had the gas bottle delivered and connected during the week and a few other little things (gaps above door lintels covered over). Seems a little frustrating right now that we can see an almost finished house and we can't move into it! But we'll get there..... Bugger! True, spitting distance from Eraring PS and we haven't got 3-phase, it is a bit ironic! Anyway, just the sewer to be connected, finish of some electriclas and the floor and we are in. Hope we can have that done by the end of Aug. Oh, yes, we spent about $9 on electricals, and about $20k on colour (without floors).
