But then I dont really like Austrians (too flouncy), pelmets (especially padded or folding material ones)...and the list goes on. So it comes down to personal taste For french and sliding doors I like curtains which are made to pull right back off the window. If there isn't enough room on a sliding just slide it to one side only and tie it back.(Have never had a problem wih our cats climbing the curtains ) I also like holland blinds or hollands with curtains at the side. All window coverings have there pluses and minuses. Verticales are a pain with cats and dogs, toddlers they wreck them but the stay pretty clean otherwise but certainly outdated. sorry all venetians and horizontal slate blinds including shutters get very dusty. High maintenance and yes you need two on each sliding door. Think cleaning but stylish if you chose wisely Curtains and roman blinds are not as flexible with light control but can look super holland roller blinds can look cheap unless curtains are used as well. Adds to the cost Do what is right for your family, then you won't go wrong. Good Luck Re: Are verticals daggy and outdated? 100Jul 28, 2010 5:40 pm I love this thread. We had verticals in our first home - they were VERY fashionable then, trust me. But that was 20-odd years agom must have been 1987 or thereabouts. We bought all our window coverings from a fantastic local business and those things were top quality. Steel chains, none of that plastic rubbish, and beautiful fabric imported from Italy. And they were still a cheap option. They were in perfect nick when I ripped them down and threw them in a rubbish skip about 12 years later. Yep, I was totally over them by then. I recently went through a similar renovation and move scenario when updating our family home. We also swapped some rooms around and tackled a major… 2 10870 Yes, unless you are in a low intensity rainfall area or the area is protected from rain. Do you have access to NCC Part 2 or can you download it? I can email you a copy… 10 12878 That sucks! Hope it all works out. Good to move away from steel anyway for all your reasons, but it's also thermally poor. 16 18394 |
