Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Mar 30, 2008 10:00 am This is a question for the kitchen experts, but which manufacturer makes the best hinges? Manufacturers I know of are Blum and Hettich. How does Salice rate? And is there a significant price difference between manufacturers? Re: Kitchen hinges 3Mar 31, 2008 9:29 am Thanks for that. Now another question, is there much difference in the Blumotion products for doors? Do the hinge clip on version (973A) and the drill in bullet version (970) work as well as one another? We were told that the drill in version works better but we haven't tested the hinge versions. We've tried the hinge soft closing from Salice and they did not appear to work that well when the door is closed too hard.

I saw these at a clients house the other day! Can they be retrofitted? I like the idea of the drill ones but what size hole do they require? Where do I get them? Do they make the drill in ones for drawers? Re: Kitchen hinges 7Apr 01, 2008 3:40 pm mattwalker Can they be retrofitted? They are not suitable for drawers Re: Kitchen hinges 8Apr 02, 2008 5:59 pm you can how ever get soft close draws the hardware costs twice as much as a standard draw but well worth it IMO, the entire draw side and runner is different. Ours are invotech or something like that, we only got two banks of 3 and 1 of 1 with soft due to cost the other 2 x 3 sets in the room are more storage and cop allot less use.
And our blumb units just clip on i assumed they would fit any of the current blumb hinges? Dont ikea kitchens use blumb? Re: Kitchen hinges 9Apr 03, 2008 10:01 am The new door dampers from Blum clip onto all 107 degree hinges now being made by Blum - Bifold doors have a different damper for the 180 degree hinge and require a plunger style on the gable for the second door (the one with the handle on it).
Do beware that some of the very recent but not latest design of hinges do not accept the clip on damper. Cheers, Earl is it easy to replace Danco hinges with Hettich? 10Oct 20, 2008 8:13 am hi all
currently looking at replacing my kitchen cupboard doors, and perhaps the hinges. The hinges are pretty bad. Made by Danco. Question: do all hinge (eg Hettich) fit in the same drilled holes or does each manufacturer have its own dimensions? cheers S Re: Kitchen hinges 11Oct 20, 2008 9:44 am Most hinge holes (in the door) are the same size but the placement and offset of the locating holes either side of the main hole vary from manufacturer to manufacturer; Hettich is different to Blum is different to Ferrari.
The mounting plates attached to the inside of your carcasses (which the hinges clip onto if you have that sort of design) are also mostly unique to each manufacturer but many of them will fit into the same holes and work at the same distance from the edge of the carcass...which is what I am assuming you want to do since you are replacing the doors... Really the best thing to do is get a sample of the hinge and hinge mounting plate from whoever will be supplying them and check it out on your existing cabinetry to be absolutely certain.
