Any advice on estimation quote $$$

Hi people im building with NBG and got my estimation quote the other day and it was a bit high, just wondering if anyone has any advice on trying to get builders to reduce the price without any problems any tips anything would be great thanks

What specifically did you think you got quoted higher for?
with regards to 'estimation quotes' human errors are commonly known to occur (we found several in our contract). Simply put, if you are not happy about something, ask for a re quote and explanation if items still don't add up.

Most builders are not flexible with their costs, especially upgrades and extras as this is where they make the most profit.
Usually, you would start off with everything you want included and then gradually take our some upgrades that you could do yourself after the build, or go for a less expensive option. Other than that, you may need to go for a smaller house.

Well for instance to make my ensuite half a meter longer including tiles plaster etc i got quoted $172 which i find hard to believe but then to add a 4 meter wall and a 3 meter wall for a walk in pantry and make bedroom 3 and 4 half a meter bigger i got quoted $5980 it just seems ridiculous and also to extend my garage by a meter i got quoted $3100 now when im goin to ask the builder why they will pretty much say thats the price do you think by telling them il llook elsewhere to get my house built they will consider reducing the price?

errr cost one and three sound cheap.

cost two - well it depends on whether or not they making the house bigger.

Hi S&M, I agree with Borg. It's not a drama to move walls but if you increase a wet area (like an ensuite) you have to take in extra waterproofing and tiling (which is more expansive than just making a normal room larger).

Just to enlarge a garage you have to consider that you're increasing slab and roof which costs. A rule of thumb is around $1000 a sqm. For wet areas even more.

The more you increase and modify your design the more it's going to cost so you may be better off finding a plan you wont have to modify as much.

Those prices sound reasonable.....if bed 3 & 4 involve increasing the roof line then the cost will be substantially more than if you have just moved internal walls and taken space from another room.
