I love bold colours myself and I think personally that the colours you have chosen are nice. Maybe perhaps with all the colours AND the other textures you may have a little bit too much going on and that may take away from the lovely clean lines of that modern facade that you have chosen? Lets see what others have to say. www.themaxbuild.blogspot.com forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20717&start=300 www.leahspaperpassion.blogspot.com Re: Please help me choose modern colours for my facade 4Apr 26, 2010 6:46 pm themax and d@n, thank you fo your comments, A friend of ours suggested these colours, and it is just a starting point, i am hoping that with the help of the members here i will sort out the exterior colours. My house is in very early stage, Slab will be done this week. So i still have some time to figure out the facade colours. cheers Re: Please help me choose modern colours for my facade 5Apr 26, 2010 7:01 pm I think that shade of red is a bit too vibrant. It may tend to make the facade a bit , ummm how can I say it...less sophisticated than it could be? If this is just a startingpoint then I guess you will change it a lot before the final choice is made. Goodness knows I went through way to many sample pots to even think about..... www.themaxbuild.blogspot.com forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20717&start=300 www.leahspaperpassion.blogspot.com Re: Please help me choose modern colours for my facade 6Apr 26, 2010 7:03 pm What about putting Monument where the red is if you'd like something bold there? It has a bit of "weight" for colour and links with the other Monument, witout adding another colour. Many options you could choose from. www.themaxbuild.blogspot.com forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20717&start=300 www.leahspaperpassion.blogspot.com Re: Please help me choose modern colours for my facade 7Apr 26, 2010 7:50 pm I think there is too much going on as well. Our house is a similar style - square, flat roof, modern lines - we have kept it clean with a very pale grey "Dulux Heifer" a feature wall of "Dulex Stepney" garage and feature bits in "Surfmist" Re: Please help me choose modern colours for my facade 8Apr 26, 2010 8:05 pm Stupid question: Where is the front door? I quite like a bright red front door against darker or neutral colours on a facade..... Have you picked a brick colour yet ? It might help determine the direction of the colours either towards more grey tones or warmer tones. What colours did your architect suggest? Ours wanted everyting white with silver windows. But there was no way I wanted to be trying to keep that clean. I quite like the red elements but I am not sure about where they are. Maybe the cladding would look better as red (on the inverted L shape in the middle) I would also bring in some more timber on the bottom right side of the non garage side. You can have a timber garage door to balance out the other frontage but it might be OK cause the timber goes across more of the facade on that side. The rendered bits on the corner (the corner of both facades) might also look good in red as an alternate. I think 3 colours + timber details would be OK and make one colour similar to the fascia/ roof colour so that doesnt make a 4th. A light colour, mid feature and dark feature, roof and windows similar to one of these colours, then maybe just a splash of red. Because you have so much depth in the facade you can also play with that a bit with how you use the colours. Darker colours seem further away when you look at them so if they were on bits that stick out further it would make the facade seem flatter or to exaggerate the depth you them on parts that are further back. Not sure if that make sense. Good Luck with the selections. We too wanted to go for something a bit different, it's nerve wracking and you find that you doubt yourself the whole time wondering if you have it right .... Good luck with the whole process. I think it looks fabulous. Huge home. I love facades like this. What is going where the brown is? You could do alot of various things to the facade using bold colours, interesting textures, render and so on. I'd love to see your floor plan and interested to know who you are building with. Thank you very much for liking the facade and for so many comments. andy min No colour restrictions from council. We have selected and builder has already ordered the Blue steel flash brick from PGH, even though it looks blue in the photos but in real like it gives more browninsh/ dark coffee colour shades. I wanted our darker colours to be a coffee colour with some greyish tones in it, and we are still couldnt decide on any colours. I liked your suggestions of the colours and when get some time i will get on to adobe and try these and will share with you guys to get some feed back. As for the red we are thinking of the poinciana red from taubmans: http://i1.tinypic.com/v5igk0.jpg currently we have more than 3 colours if you count the Bricks, Timber, and two render colours plus the red and white on matrix. Our architecture gave us orange, red and brown colours which we didnt like much. Here is the link to architecture's vision. http://www.myotherdrive.com/dyn/thumb/4 ... -small.tif I have to rush now but i will put more details and will appreciate more comments. cheers bravoz Re: Please help me choose modern colours for my facade 18Apr 29, 2010 3:29 pm Glad you know what you like, some people have a lot of trouble even getting started. Quote: we have more than 3 colours if you count the Bricks, Timber, and two render colours plus the red and white on matrix I always consider white, black and timber as colours that dont count. If that makes sense. I think its cause my brain just accepts that these colours go with everything. I can see where the architect was going with the orange my hubby works for a commercial interior design company and they are using orange and lime green as accents on a few jobs at the moment especially teamed with greys. I dont think I could do orange though. The however I like I think I know what you mean by coffee colours we are using Laminex Espresso as one of our kitchen colours. I think thats considered a coffee colour, with a name like that. I am sure your house will look amazing which ever way you go. I think the wood repeated on the red areas would look so nice Thank you @.
